Do people want electronic paper? Sony spokesperson Atsuo Omagari says, "our business [of the Sony Librie] went well as planned so far," there's a feeling amongst industry watchers that its overall customer reviews have been somewhat underwhelming." Sony responded to address the situation. "They began selling with new devices a CD, which contained about 100 Japanese novels on it, as well as some very useful tools, most notable of which was a one-step-simple printer driver, so now whatever can be printed off of a computer can print directly to the device." It sticks out like a sore thumb that Sony is not reading Mobileread. Can someone please tell them that the key to successfully selling an e-book device is to remove it from its ridiculous DRM obstacles? |

Anyways, the online book database is still pretty vacant, but isn't that why we are here, to fill it out with useful information? |

For anybody who doesn't know: FontSmoother decreases the "jagginess" of bitmap fonts and allows you to use smooth fonts in most applications on your OS 5 PDA. http://www.zlthemes.com/Programs.php Upgraders can just hotsync the new shareware version over the old, though it's slightly better to uncheck the old one in YAHM first and then check the new one. It'll take over all registration data, etc. |

This is for our registered Mobileread members: I have 100 invitations available. All you have to do is reply to this thread and say something nice. I also need your e-mail address for the invite, which you can either post in this thread (not recommended) or send me in private via PM. Since it went wrong so many times in the past, I repeat: You must be registered here (it's easy, painless, and takes only a few seconds) to receive an invite! |

The service is initially available in the United States only and a one-year premium membership to the MSN Video Downloads service with access to all available videos costs US$19.95. In addition, people can access a limited amount of free content without a paid membership. The culprit: As far as I know ATM only few mobile devices have Windows Media Player 10 installed (Dell Axim X50, beta WM2005 devices). [via Geekzone] |

08:01 AM by Colin Dunstan in Archive | Handhelds and Smartphones A quick update: My favorite free audio player for Windows Mobile has been updated. Changelog is in Japanese, but from what I gather the update has to do with fixes in the effects code (bass boost etc.). Download GSPlayer 2.22 from here. |

If you haven't heard of Connexion before: Connexion by Boeing uses a satellite link to allow passengers to surf the Net, check email, and send instant messages, all while at 35,000 feet! So let's pass this one over to someone else. Tom's Networking wrote a great article on Connexion. I couldn't have done it better! |
