Managing update downloads

This might be that's a silly question but that's where I am right now. For a variety of reasons, I have not downloaded any updates for the past two years. I'm currently running calibre version 7.10 from mid 2024 and there are 39 updates that I have missed. My question is, can I skip over that many updates and go directly to the most recent one to download?
Thanks for not laughing too loud...

Yes, you can download the latest version and skip the previous ones.

When you install the latest calibre, it may run slow for a while while it calculates the page numbers for all of your eBooks.

Don't know if you'd be interested, but there's a plugin to add auto update to Calibre:

As far as I know, it requires at least one click to trigger the update process, one to say yes you want to update and one to accept the update so not a running in the background with no user input needed update. I do like that it will let you know about maintenance updates which calibre itself does not display as being available.

I did suggest being flagged about a maintenance update since calibre doesn't do it if you are the same main version.

I do like that it handles the updating fairly easily. It puts the install file where I want, shuts down calibre neatly, and runs the install file. The only thing I have to do it go to the calibre website to see what's new.

I was wondering if I missed out on a feature to make it automatic. But I didn't. So the post saying will auto update calibre is incorrect.

The "automatic" part of the plugin's name is clearly stated in the second paragraph: Main Features
One-Click Update: Activates the official update process. If we're being precise, it should be two clicks.

The plugin's purpose was to simplify the update process. It would have been helpful if Calibre had already included this feature in the notification window for new versions, whether final or maintenance.

But automatic means you run calibre, the plugin sees there's an update and then it downloads and installs the update for you without you having to do a thing other then wait.
