My son jumps back and forth between the audio and ebook version of books all the time, and while I guess it would be possible without the sync that Amazon does, it's definitely *much* easier with it. (and yes, I know that for the audio/ebook sync to work both copies have to have been purchased from Amazon) So yeah...there are a LOT of people who sync books among different devices for lots of different reasons. A lot of those people use Kindles because you can sync books from virtually any source if you aren't afraid to use the Send to Kindle service. I may try Pocketbook someday, but I will probably never go back to Kobo because being able to sync all of my books no matter where they're from is so important to me. (even if it's not important to you) Shari |

However unlike a Kobo or Pocketbook ereader, where installing KOReader is pretty trivial, a Kindle ereader will require being jailbroken before KOReader can be installed. |

Push to Kindle has a feature where it can download an Epub instead of sending it to the Kindle. The nice thing about it is that it’s a bookmarklet and works in any browser and the web page can be edited before downloading or sending. I can change the title, exclude images or just paste an article manually. Just have to look into KOReader. But seems I don’t have much to lose. The device now is basically a paperweight as it doesn’t do what I need it to do. |

To do this, open the restricted book in the kindle app. Then tap the highlights button on the toolbar. Next, tap the sharing button in the top right corner. From there, you can export all your highlights. Your highlights will be exported as an HTML file. You can follow the instructions here: https://docs.readwise.io/readwise/do...dle-apps-email By the way, this only works in the Android app. The limit still applies in the iOS app. There are some drawbacks to this method. First, you can only export all notes at once. This means you can either export them after finishing the book, or you'll need to handle the duplicate notes. Second, there are very few tools that can parse Kindle highlights in html format, compared to MyClippings.txt. As far as I know, Readwise is the only choice, which is quite expensive. I had the idea of writing a parser, but apparently it's quite a bit of work. Maybe I will finish it in the future. |
