Forma I will use whatever the default font face is set for a book. Here's why.

I never changed the weight of fonts on the Glowlight. I should have. Thicker Baskerville is very nice.

To add custom fonts:

1. Connect your Kobo to your computer.
2. Use file explorer to open the Kobo.
3. There will be a folder called 'fonts'.
4. Dump your fonts in that folder.
5. Eject.
6. Done.

There should typically be four versions of the font: regular, italic, bold, bold italic.

To change fonts:

1. Open a book.
2. Bring up the menu.
3. Touch 'Aa' in the upper right.

Kobo's preloaded fonts will be listed first, your sideloaded fonts will follow. I wish it would just list them all alphabetically..

That is a really bad idea. I have seen some eBooks where the use of sans-seif and/or monospace should be left alone. Also a really bad idea is converting every one of your eBooks even if they are in ePub.

There is a version of ChareInk that has added weight available to download. CareInk is based on Charis SIL and Charis SIL is based on Baskerville.

I understand what are saying but I’ve been doing it for years now and don’t feel like I’m missing much. I should clarify that if a book has a good reason for special formatting then I’ll leave it alone, but that’s rare. Usually I prefer to have the font, line spacing, margins etc consistent between books.

Many books I read have either formatting or OCR errors which I need to fix. I treat the first read through of any ebook as a proof read. So I don’t mind standardising the typography at the same time.

It's easier to learn to edit the code yourself for an ePub. Plus, you can fix anything else that you may want to fix that a conversion will not fix. Some of what I fix are not possible to fix with a conversion.

As for the fonts, if the eBook uses sans-serif and/or monospace but they are not the main font, then I would leave them. With the main font being your choice, you get the same font, same font size, and same line height for most of the eBook. I have seen some eBooks where monospace is used in a way that you do want to keep it.

Wow...maybe it's just the lighting, but I can't get past how much better the contrast is on the Kobo.
