I am sorry to be offtopic again, but I could not believe what I read and I really had to correct it, as Reyes really is a huge Holiday in the spanish speaking world. And a magical one too, with fantastic processions. I encourage y'all to visit a country of the Hispanidad on that day, it's amazing and extremely joyful.

To be accurate, this is a rumour that the rumour was a lie. The author admits that they have no inside knowledge.

I would say if there has not be any word from Amazon by now then it is true that there is no new Voyage this month.

Why not change the month in the title and then keep changing it every month until a new one is released then it can be said the rumour was true.

Oh well I went with a smart watch instead of a new kindle for Xmas. I hope they release a new one for my birthday but I'm not going to hold my breath.

More tea leaves for what they're worth: Amazon is offering a Kindle Voyage "package" (e.g., KV, with cover and charger, etc.) for $30 off -- and the offer says it is running through January 31st. I doubt they'd construct such an offer if there were any plans to introduce a new KV in that time period. My 2 cents.

I haven't visited them since I've seen them use parts of my posts around here as a part of their articles.

Am I such a genius then? No, but on some things, I have a very outspoken opinion, such as DRM. Sometimes I extrapolated these opinions and the arguments underpinning them to their logical extreme to make a point of what *could* happen in the worst case.

GoodEReader / Michael Kozlowski has repeatedly presented some of those posts as 'rumours within the ebook community', and once even as a fact of what *would* happen in the near future.

If a battery degenerates faster when you charge it often, you would be right.
If it just degenerates at the same rate, regardless if you charge it or not, then I'm right.

The one thing I do know from experience however, is that a battery will degenerate very fast and eventually become dead if you keep it charged all the time OR don't ever charge it (leave it lying around empty).

For a Li-ion battery, it's better to keep it charged all the time, vs leave it empty.
For a NiCd battery, it's better to leave it completely empty, and only charge when empty.

And a battery wears during charging cycles, or fast discharge cycles. The moments when it gets warm.
A battery that runs hot when you charge it, is wearing itself out at a rapid rate.
That's why I'm so much for slow chargers.

Cellphone companies know that a battery generally only gets hot when cells get overcharged. That's why they allow fast charging upto 80%, after which they will continue slow charging.
I prefer the safer, and more sound way of slow charging all the way.
It'll keep the batteries cooler, and live longer.

So, but,
When your battery is used heavily, or charged heavily it wears.
Obviously, if you need your device 4 hours a day, and it lasts for 8 hours a day, at 100% you only charge it once every 2 days,
at 75% you charge it twice every 3 days,
at 50% you charge it every day, essentially doubling the wear on the battery.
