To the last sentence of the immediately prior post ..... which is pushing this whole discussion too close to a dangerous field ...... which is why I though the thread was NOW ready to be closed. Sorry. But I would prefer we stop arguing about this and find a different subject.

Alternately, I could just go away for a few hours and read something else!

Given the date and how close it is to Hanukkah and Christmas, I highly doubt Amazon would release new Kindles now. Amazon has never released in December and not this close to December.

My inside sources tell me that this is only a temporary delay.

Apparently the unicorn, the one that was supposed to fart the rainbows which would be used in the new Kindle's screen, is constipated. But don't worry; she's been given a double dose of ex-lax.

We are going out for a Christmas meal and then to my daughter-in-law's house for the immediate family to have nibbles and dessert.

This year is going to be different. It's going to be my wife & in-laws. We are going to go out to eat.

Normally it's thanksgiving at my sister's with the immediate family. But this year is going to be different.

And my main point was and still is, that I don't think a statistically significant number of people want to give gifts for Chanukah and not for Christmas, such that Amazon should stage a product release to accommodate them.

Jews are a minority.
Frum Jews are an even smaller minority.
There is no pervasive culture of gift-giving in this minority.
In the event that someone celebrates both Chanukah and Christmas (as was said above), they won't buy the same thing twice.

It is a small enough target that Amazon won't bite, even without considering that no one else does so either.

I never said Christmas wasn't secularized. I said I don't think Chanukah will be secularized in the same way.

English has no concept of the guttural "ch".
Hebrew, Aramaic, German, and apparently Scottish English ("loch"?) do.
Google says it is the voiceless velar fricative.

Sheer force of habit, maybe, as I usually speak Yinglish, or rather, Yeshivish.
The word "Hanukkah" is an anglicized form of "Chanukah", for pandering to people who don't have those gutturals; it stops them from doing amusing things with "k"s.
