It took hardly a week for Picard to release another update of TCPMP. It's a maintenance release with the following fixes:

• yuv blitting fix (intel 2700g, sonyhhe affected)
• ogg icecast fix
• avi opendl mode out of sync fix
• large jpeg file support
• song title updated with audio streaming fix
• portrait pre-rotate disabled for coverart and podcasts
• WinCE: http async mode (connection loss should not freeze the player)
• WinCE: http avi playback fix
• WinCE: http streaming emulate wmp10 identification (for ORB server)
• WinCE: http site parsing and listing fixes
• WinCE: file association IE auto-download flag only for playlists
• WinCE: options/audio menu disappearing fix
• WinCE: raw framebuffer mode only for WM2003SE and later
• PalmOS: screen blanking audio pause fix
• PalmOS: pre-rotate portrait movies advanced option

Remember the AAC plugin is not included anymore but you can still download it from here.

I just saw something on the local news this morning about the after Thanksgiving Black Friday ads being leaked onto the web early. I google'd it and sure enough they are online for BestBuy, Circuit City, etc. There are some decent deals there (42" Plasma EDTV for $999.99 at BestBuy, Syntax Olevia 27" LCD HD-Ready TV for $499.99 at Office Depot, etc.).

Minimo, the trimmed-down Mozilla browser that was previously only available for Pocket PC-based handhelds, can now be marvelled at in all its beauty on a Nokia 770. Doug Turner posted a couple of impressive screenshots on his website and also a link to the CVS download (login: guest/guest).

So who of you guys will send me a Nokia 770 for Christmas? Don't be shy...

Nokia first denied the rumors, but if Engadget says shipments for pre-ordered Nokia 770 are to be delayed all the way to January 31st 2006, then it's probably true. I hope you haven't planned buying one for me as a Christmas gift. You may as well send me the money

There's a game design application that lets you create 2-dimensional cross-platform games (no PalmOS, sorry) without having to know how to program or know the details of each platform.

It's about $15 for the full version, no updates. About $100 for the full version with a year of updates. But there's also a trial version so you can test it out.

It's now a mainstream activity to listen to streaming radio stations. Not only can you listen on connected laptops, and on many specialty gadgets, but with applications like Pocket Tunes they are available to pda users with wifi or wireless network connections.

At the Mobile Stream Center you'll find "a slimmed down version of The Stream Center for your Pocket PC, Palm, or other Handheld PDA. Here, you will find all your favourite US radio stations webcasting on RealOne Player, Windows Media Player, Streaming mp3 and Other formats listed by US state."

You can also search for stations by either station name or callsign.

One downside I've noticed about streaming radio, however... if you have a favorite sports team you're hoping to follow, you may find the game coverage blocked out on the streaming feed due to contractual obligations.

Whenever you enter a Starbucks, chances are at least one coffee drinker uses a Palm. Not that there's necessarily a correlation between coffee drinkers and Palm - though both can be an addiction - once you check out the PalmAddict Frappr map, you'll know that there are Palm users everywhere on this planet.

A member of TreoCentral posted detailed instruction how you can customize your Treo 650 ROM - without the blessings of Palm of course.

I am a complete unskilled newbie but after days of reading information I was able to make a perfect ROM for my Sprint Treo 650. I gained 4 megs of RAM since I placed in ROM 4 megs of my 3rd party programs that would usually be in RAM. More importantly I got rid of the junk applications that wasted space and occasionally caused me problems, like versamail.

You know the drill... backup your data and be sure to follow the instruction carefully. Have fun while voiding your warranty.
