Downloading ebooks for Kindle 4

Now that Amazon won’t allow you to download a copy of the ebooks you buy from them, I’m looking for a place to buy them that would work with an old kindle, a 4th generation one.

I read in this thread* that booksamillion.com has epubs. Does anyone know if a downloaded ebook from booksamillion would work with a kindle 4th generation?

The booksamillion site said it won’t allow refunds for ebooks.

Thanks

I don't convert to Amazon formats but you can download, remove the Adobe ADEPT DRM (if present) and convert to KF8/azw3 to send to your Kindle. You could also use the various Send to Kindle options to send the ePub after DRM removal. This same process can be used on most sites selling ePub format ebooks.

I think your Kindle 4th generation (I think it is likely a Kindle Touch) can still download books from Amazon and you could use calibre and plugins to copy the books from it to your computer for editing/whatever which might be simpler for you.

No epub works on a Kindle without conversion.

That said, you can buy from any epub store allowing downloads (including Kobo and Google Play), remove the DRM and convert for your Kindle (or use Send to Kindle to send an epub without converting, but you'll still have to remove the DRM if the book has it).

Where did you get this rubbish that Amazon won't allow you to download your Kindle eBooks? You can download them using your Kindle.

Maybe this is an older Kindle that won't register. Which seems to be an issue with some of the older Kindles (even the ones that are still, supposedly, supported).

I know a K3/KK can be registered. So anything newer can be registered. The OP's K4 & K5 can be registered. So That's not the problem. I do use my Kindle Touch to download and it works no problem.
