How hard would it be to add search to Look & Feel/Column Icon?
I have "Bought From" field (entered manually), and another field that displays an icon from each source I've bought from. It's up to 81 rules now (guess I get a little carried away some times, but I do find the icons useful). How hard would it be to add search to Look & Feel/Column Icon entry, since it's really becoming a PITA to look for a specific rule when I want to change something (like the name in the Bought from column that now is little different, or correcting a mis-spelling in that column, or when I want to check if there is already an entry for the item, but it's not populating the icon correctly, which is often due to a another rule about it which takes precedence).
It would be best just to highlight the rule the search finds, but leave all the rules on screen so I can check for rule priority. Thanks |

I don't have an answer but tossing out an idea .
Allow the icon rule to use a pattern If condition of field= then use path + {test value}.jpg With a graceful fail (blank ico ?) if there is no matching icon. The name of the icon must match the condition pattern |

Well....
what I really want after the search are all the rules displayed exactly like they are now, but the one(s) found are highlighted in some way (yellow), much like the main calibre search works now with Highlight turned on. Rule priority can be difficult to figure sometimes. BTW, found some new icons, up to 95 rules. Most of the rest of the sources just have a few entries, or I've been too lazy to take care of them yet. |

Perhaps a singular advanced rule would work? Here's an example of a template for fanfiction categories:
Code:
program: f = $#fanficcat; strcat( if "^Fallout$" inlist f then 'fallout.png:' fi, if "^Half-Life$" inlist f then 'halflife.png:' fi, if "^(Mass Effect Trilogy|Mass Effect: Andromeda)$" inlist f then 'masseffect.png:' fi, if "^The Elder Scrolls$" inlist f then 'theelderscrolls.png:' fi, if "^Pokémon$" inlist f then 'pokemon.png:' fi, if "^Portal$" inlist f then 'portal.png:' fi, ) |

Thanks, but that doesn't solve either part of my issue. My icons already populate automagically based on the manually entered source location (amazon, kobo, standard books, author's site, book funnel, storyorigin, gutenberg, Baen free books, short stories and sometimes longer works from Free Speculative fiction, Gutenburg, etc). I don't see any way of doing *that* part automatically.
BTW, I normally download at least 20 short stories a month from Free Speculative Fiction. For example, Michael Swanwick has 43 stories and/or audio stories free right now, including "The Dog Said Bow-Wow" |
