Preferences - Look & Feel - Column Icons Error

I've been using this feature for a long time and it has always worked fine. Suddenly any time I try to add or change anything I receive the following error "Unhandled exception: <b>TypeError</b>:sequence item 0: expected string or Unicode, NoneType found"

Copy to clipboard gives the following info:

calibre, version 2.9.0
ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>TypeError</b>:sequence item 0: expected string or Unicode, NoneType found

calibre 2.9 isfrozen: True is64bit: False

I tried repairing the install but it didn't help. Any idea what's happening?

Thanks

All I can tell from that is that a rule seems to be using an invalid value, which doesn't help very much. To debug this I need to see the rules themselves. We have three options, listed in order of preference. Option #1 is strongly preferred.

1) You somehow send me your metadata.db file from your library. It is is under 4 or 5 megabytes then you can send it by email to calibre-bugs at charles dot haleys dot org (make the obvious substitutions). If it is larger than that then you would need to put it on dropbox or whatever and email me a link.

2) You send me the metadata_db_prefs_backup.json file from your library to the above email address.

3) You post screen captures of the rules screen.
