Is there a way to avoid that pdfs stay on the home page after opening them ?

The title says it all.

I am pretty annoyed because I use my Kobo to read my university's slides while reviewing lectures before the exams (it is less demanding for the eyes and there are less distractions on an e-reader compared with a computer), but then I have to remove manually dozens of entries from the home page to see my current actual readings.

Is this a setting available somewhere in a config file ? To avoid from putting pdfs to the home page, I mean.

No, there is no configuration to prevent particular books appearing on the home screen. But, if you just page to the end, they will be marked as finished and never appear on the home screen. It sounds like you will have finished with them, so just finish them.

The only other thing I can think of is to add a database trigger to set the books not to appear on the home screen when opened. They will probably appear and then disappear when you open another book.

...
Or you can bring up the bottom menu (while reading), hit "...", View Details, "...", "mark as finished".

Although they both may be more work than what the OP is already doing?

You can hold on it, in the pop-up select `Remove` and then `Remove From Home`.
Good luck.
