Free (nook/Kindle/iTunes/ePub) The Solitary Envoy [Xtian 1812 Historical Drama Novel]
The Solitary Envoy by T. Davis Bunn & Isabella Bunn is the 1st novel in their Heirs of Acadia series of historical family saga drama novels set in the early 19th century US, this installment apparently sometime War of 1812-ish and aftermath, starring a daughter of the house traveling to England to settle some debts to keep the family business going, only to get embroiled into some sort of intrigue plot possibly related to the ongoing international conflict, free courtesy of Christian publisher Baker's Bethany House imprint.
This series is a sequel to T. Davis Bunn & Janette Oke's Song of Acadia quintet set a generation earlier in 18th century Canada (well, more like proto-Canada, for parts of the Maritimes which IIRC were kind of separate-ish colonies for a while from Upper and Lower Canada proper), for which we've previously received the 1st-in-series, The Meeting Place, free. Currently free on a long-term basis as one of Baker's recent rotation of 1st-in-series introductory freebies @ B&N, Amazon (available to Canadians & in the UK), Kobo & iTunes & Google Play (all available to Canadians), ChristianBook (ADE-DRM ePub available worldwide). Description Book 1 of Heirs of Acadia, continuing the story told in the bestselling Janette Oke and T. Davis Bunn Song of Acadia series. Erica Langston's comfortable home and loving family living near Washington, D.C., carry no outward hint of the sorrows and fears faced by her Acadian forebears, but she will soon discover that similar determination and fortitude will be required of her. When the British once again invade the nation's capital and leave death and destruction in their wake, Erica is left to deal with the creditors circling around the crumbling family business. It seems her only recourse is to travel to England to collect on outstanding debts held in British banks. Arriving in London at the home of the United States ambassador, Erica is gradually immersed in a secret mission that brings her face-to-face with her most feared and reviled enemy. She discovers that Gereth Powers is part of a group of Christian activists headed up by William Wilberforce himself. Along the way, Erica comes to realize her faith has been more cultural than real, and her spiritual journey becomes far more significant than her journey over the ocean. |
