And today I went to take it for a ride, spent the whole two minutes it takes to unlock all chains, and then found out that the handlebar came right off, and couldn't steer the bicycle at all. Some really minor components were missing from the handlebar, of which I don't even know the names. Nothing more. A total 8 pounds cost. Probably were trying to steal the fork, the repair guy told me.

And now I'm feeling vulnerable again. And angry. I mean what is it with these people? I had to cancel an appointment because of all that, and a nice ride, and spend the rest of the day looking at everyone I come across as a potential bicycle thief. And constantly worry about what will be missing next the next time I will check on it...
I wouldn't assume that. Otters are damnedly clever little bastiches!

My ex-daughter-in-law is scheduled to move out on the 1st of April. If she's there after midnight, March 31, the Census will show 8 people living in our house. If she moves out before midnight, there will only be 3 people to report.

RNC put out a "Census" form that asked similar questions and asked for money. I hope you didn't send in a "Contribution" with your form...

We just went through the Census, in the form of a couple of interviewers canvassing our building. They certainly didn't ask about banking or credit cards. All of their questions were impersonal and aggregate: age, sex, ethnic group, number of folks living there - the sorts of questions I'd expect of a survey designed to gather data about just how many people live in the US and their demographic breakdown.

You are legally required to answer the questions. I know folks who've worked as census takers, and they've told stories about privacy obsessed folks refusing to admit they existed, let alone anything else. The supervisor for the area got to go and explain that yes, they were required to cooperate, they were welcome to confirm that with their lawyer, and if they still refused, a hefty fine from the government might convince them their "I don't have to talk to you!" belief was mistaken.

We haven't got a census form yet. Does that mean they are going door to door? I know they do that in some areas. I thought it was mostly to count the homeless though.
