dlovely, could you kindly try my attached PDF file that is the one most difficultly to display in my collection? Sorry for this, someone has tried it in the DX, which looks good. But I need pics to compare in the DR and the DX. rfog don't get a camera now. So could you? if possible. Thanks.

Here are some shots, it turned out pretty well formatting wise but the text was grainy IMO and would be annoying to read. I prefer a more bold text that the DR is capable of displaying.

Sweet comparison, DR1000 owned the DX. God I wish it was $300 cheaper I would pick one up so quick, its just too expensive for my blood right now, its a recession

Hi guys,

If you compare PDF rendering speed and quality on the DR1000, please mention your firmware version. It improved greatly with version 1.6 (released mid-May 2009) over 1.5. (I haven't experimented with Kindle's, this might be the same, that firmware versions improve rendering speed and/or quality).

BTW, it has already been announced that the DR1000 switches from an open source PDF rendering engine to Adobe's Mobile PDF engine, which would greatly enhances PDF rendering speed, especially with PDF's containing bitmap images. So what's good might become even better. Looking forward!

I really notice their announcement, but I don't realize what will be changed. So thank you very much. So we can have a new engine from 1.7??

It depends - the problem is that the pdf support is very limited (no zooming, ...) and that could be a problem for some scripts or big books.

Additionally you can't use the mobile net option in Europe. The device isn't open so it's harder to adjust to the look you want.

I think it's a cheap option for a real ebook reader ... if you love big (e-)books you should buy an IRex Reader. I'm certainly thinking about it ...

Thanks. I have made the decision to order the 1000s this week or next. Otherwise, we can wait until the early of next year for the plastic logic. But I think it is better for me to use the pen for marking.
