How to Undo "Copy all author sort values to author"
I made a huge mistake. In "Manage Authors" I meant to click the "Recalculate all author sort values" button, but I slipped and clicked the "Copy all author sort values to author" button. Is there any way to undo this change? Thanks!

Just click the correct button, it will overwrite the previous. This is not an Undo, but more of a ReDo

Bulk changes rarely have a distinct Undo. Have a backup saved.

Are you sure about that

For me "Copy all author sort values to author" not only changes the database, it also changes the author folder names - e.g. from William Shakespeare to Shakespeare, William.

The "Recalculate all author sort values" doesn't touch the folder names, nor does it change Shakespeare, William back to William Shakespeare.

@BetterRed is correct. Other than restoring a backup there is no way to undo "Copy all author sort values to author" in Manage Authors once the OK button has been pressed. The Cancel button would have thrown away the changes.

However, there is hope. The Quality Check plugin can bulk "fix" authors, in your case (I think) by converting "LN, FN" to "FN LN". You would first use Quality Check / Check metadata / Authors with commas. Then select all books found (which might be all the books) and run Quality Check / Fix / Swap author FN [...]. NB: this can take a while because it must rename all the author folders.

I had a good recent backup, so I just reverted to that to fix the issue. I am definitely going to install the Quality Check plugin, though. Thanks for the help everyone!

Because the "Copy all author sort values to author" is destructive perhaps it should have an confirmatory popup.
