I just had this happen to me--wait for it--for the third time, with a doctor. The bizarre part? The SAME doctor.

Suffice to say, I'm not going to be making any effort(s) to continue to see her.

My issue was with a dentist. She and her husband ran their practice together for 2 or 3 years after graduating as dentists. One day they moved back to their home country without any notice (their office was closed with a sign saying that renovations were being done and a phone number which went to the not in service message). They had neglected to pay their rent for a few months, sold the dental office equipment which they had leased, collected from various dental plans for work that was not done or completed, etc. Trying to convince my dental coverage supplier that I had not had the work completed but that they had paid for was not fun.

A few years back my neurologist left without notification. Good thing I called to confirm the appointment, especially since it was a hundred-kilometre trip.

I feel ya! My last doc, the one that vaporized (again), had an office that was literally 71 miles from my home, each way. It's a 140-mi RT and thank goodness I'd called them, the week prior to the appointment and they said. 'oh, well, she's not here anymore," so I was going to make this pilgrimage over the hills and through the dales, for what???? To see someone else that I never wanted to see?

Sheesh. Y'know, I'd been her pt. about two years when she left the first practice I was with, the year prior to Covid. I found her post-COVID, and managed to do so just when she decided to leave that practice (so, what, 2-3 years?), so I canceled the appt. I'd made, at that 2nd practice, a nd made the appointment at the 3rd, the one 140 miles away. That was just last year, and now...well, there ya go again. ((One of the nursing assistants informed me that it was a family personal issue, but you know what? 3 practices in what, 4-ish years? Nah.)

Both my GP (yeah, yeah "primary care physician") and my OBGYN retired this past year. I'm bereft. I mean, it's not like you can run around and interview these suckers, before "hiring" them to be your doc, is it? (And why not, she asked...???)

And here I felt hard done by that the new clinic was an hour's transit ride each way. I guess it could be worse.

Indeedy! I love living in the boonies, but I freely admit, I hate running errands, doctor's visits, etc. Everything is a schlep, although the thing with my spine/back doc, was a bit much. Her replacement is only about 25 mi from me.

(My late sister, who resided on the East Coast, used to be horrified about those numbers--she thought having to drive fifteen (15) whole miles to our mother's home was excessive! Ha! The western parts of the USA and the Eastern have totally different perspectives on distance, and what constitutes "long" and "short" or far and near...)

We live 15 miles from my 92 year old mom now, it takes 30 minutes to get there. Quite a change from less than 4 miles. I try very hard to not complain, since we love our new location. But after 33 years, it does take some getting use to when routine trips all take 20 minutes plus, when before they all took 3-6 minutes. I feel like we moved to another state, not just 17 miles north.

My rant? Our doctors no longer have an in house lab, so if you need blood work, it requires another stop/trip to the locations they use. The one near the doctor's office is close, but it's not terribly handing getting in and out. It's a facility connected to the hospital, and provides lots of services. So you have to figure which of the 6 entrances you need to use, (granted just a first time challenge), register at the touch screen kiosk, sit down, and wait to be called. It can take 5 minutes or 40.

Knowing pugs, I'm pretty sure that my MC cat, Zep, is 2x the size of your pug, lol.

Don't get me wrong, love pugs and dogs, too, but...physics always wins.
