[Enhancement] calibre:// book-details option

It's a little embarrassing that the first thing that most users (the ones who haven't been testing this for a week already) see is a bugged behaviour.

Also, another thing that I just thought of:

My hands are a bit wobbly rright now, so three times in a row I accidentally right-clicked the entry name instead of the external-link glyph (it's a small tatrget).

If possible, perhaps add 'Copy > Link associated with entry' (naming it that to make it distinct from calibre:// search links) to the context menu of the entry.

Calibre 6.15.1 with the book-details link fix has been released.

calibre:\\book-details links now link to the right books within the same library and between libraries.

But it only shows standard columns (i.e. no custom columns), is that likely to change?

That's a normal thing, people who haven't tested it don't have expectations about how to use it and find the gaps

Somewhere in the back-and-forth between me and Kovid this changed. Or maybe it never worked but I tested it incorrectly.

In any event, I submitted a fix. I will post here once it is in source.

if it were up to me, the only place I'd put the index option is in the format context menu -- the main use for it seems to be when the files are edited externally so that Calibre can't detect it (and you probably wouldn't be doing

btw, I read !William Shakespeare as "Not William Shakespeare" and was confused until I realized more likely putting it at the beginning of lists

That's an even better suggestion.

People edit their epubs in Sigil and PageEdit, I edit DOCX manuscripts in Word, Quoth uses LO Writer, there's even a few Wordstar diehards in the wild.

I added it to the context menu for the link itself so you can use right-click then "Click" to use the link. This is in calibre source.


I am looking at adding it to the context menu of the associated item. This isn't completely straightforward.
