Battery cycle counter
Hello experts,
Is there any way to find out the number of charge cycles undergone by a Kobo Reader Battery (Forma, in my case)? My battery life has gotten to be pretty poor, and I'm wondering what the current capacity is, versus the design capacity. I can't find any way to get this info from the reader itself, but I'm wondering whether there is any third-party utility that will tell me. Thanks in advance, Nike |

Never heard of a charge cycle counter for anything. Laptops do give current max capacity vs original capacity as well as current charge level.
It's not very useful to know cycles because total cycles depends on age, temperature and manufacturing tolerance/purities. Time and elevated temperature on their own wear out the cell. I replace the cell or battery if the run time gets too short if the cell is economical to change. One laptop had 4 packs, but was used for 14 years. The 4th pack still just about goes as the laptop hardly used in 6 years. Bought in April 2002 and replaced in November 2016. I've replaced several phone cells, cells in three kindles, one tablet and one Kobo. |

I don't really care that much about cycle count; it's just a rough measure, for want of anything better. Just trying to get an idea of whether I want to bother with replacing the battery (and ruining the waterproofing) or not. |

Replace the battery (technically a battery has more than one cell and it's a cell, not a battery) if you can't read an entire average size book on one charge!
