HDX First power cycle for HDX battery.

I completed my first power cycle for my Kindle Fire HDX 2013. It lasted one day and, as measured by GSam, at 15% it had 8:03 Active Time of which 7:16 was Screen Time. I was indexing a Bible Encyclopedia and using Amazon Music Importer to add in my favorite songs while playing the songs most of that time.

The HDX MP3 player was active 23.4% of the time and the Screen was active 43.9% of the time.

My Kindle Fire HD 2012 has run for 8 days and is down to 15%. Its Active Time is 7:20 and its Screen Time is 4:38. The MP3 Player is at 2.4% and the Screen was active 30.4%.

It appears the big battery advantage of the HDX is in Screen Time but it is only slightly better than the HD in Active Time which may have been influenced by the long eBook indexing and the MP3 usage of the HDX.

The HDX took 2.5 hours to charge from 15% to 100%. The HD took 3.5 hours to charge from 15% to 100%.

My HDX takes 6 hours to charge. I am guessing you had the rapid charger and not using the one it came with?

I was surprised to see the one it came with was only 1 amp out. At least it came with one though, haha. I am using my phone charger. As a side note, it's weird that the plug sits at an angle when plugged into the device. I know why it does, but it still looks weird.

Oh thank goodness you mention that! I thought I did something to it while in the official case I never notice it did that but once I change cases I noticed, freak out and thought I bent it. I even unpluggin and plug it in a few times just to make sure it was seated properly.

Do you think the rapid charger is worth the extra?

I use the rapid charger for all 4 of my Kindles. I also have a circular power strip from Amazon which has all 6 of my various types of devices' power cords always plugged. One is for all four Kindles.

Well I just ordered it as 6 hours is a long time if I am not sleeping and now Hubby has the original Kindle Fire he will get use of using it too. The original one that came with the old Kindle Fire charges in about 4 1/2 hours so this will speed it up a bit.

I used the money from my refund on the Origami case. I gave hubby $25 of it to spend on apps and whatever he wants now he has a KF to play with.

Is it considered a good idea to leave chargers plugged in with no outlet, nothing to charge? I confess ignorance of this type of electronics.

Its been in use for four years and I haven't noticed any problems. The circular strip has a switch which I turn off if nothing is being charged. I have 6 different wires coming off for my variety of gadgets.

I have all the wires labeled so as not to connect the wrong gadget to the wrong wire.
