List By Title
Is it possible to have the an expandible list of books by title in the Tag Browser pane? It's nice to have Series, Authors, etc., but what I really want to see is the list of books in my library so that I don't add books I already have in there. Is this possible?

The Tag Browser is a tool to help build a Search.
The Search Results have 2 modes: Highlighted (I believe this is the default) or Results only. Preferences: Searching is where you adjust the behavior |

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that I have to do a search to see a complete list of books by title?

If yo want to find if you have a Title, simply type its name in the search of coarse, that will give you results if that word is used elsewhere. Search Code:
title:<the title you are looking for> Usually folk search for the Author to see if they have that book Or by Series to see if it is missing. ![]() |

That said, if you really want to do this then create a "Column built from other columns" with the template {title}. Check the "Show in tag browser" box. Depending on how you think and how you use titles, you might want to change Preferences / Tweaks / Control formatting of title and series when used in templates (ID: save_template_title_series_sorting) to 'strictly_alphabetic'. |

The Library VIEW sorts simply by clicking a Column heading.
You can 'bias' the sorts by first sorting the column to provide Bias ![]() |

Alternately to {title}, I use this to display the first letter of the title.
Code:
{title_sort:'contains(t=uppercase(re($, '^\W*(\w).*$','\1')), '\d', '0-9', t)'} Last edited by ownedbycats; 11-11-2022 at 03:49 PM. |

@JeffGeorge - you could add the Sort By tool to relevant Toolbars and/or menus, I have it in the library and device context menus.

So I get this far and I can't get any further. I'm starting to really feel stupid with this software.

Also, why not make it hierarchical? Something like Code:
program: ts = re($title_sort, '\.', ':'); contains(t=uppercase(re(ts, '^\W*(\w).*$','\1')), '\d', '0-9', t) & '.' & ts EDIT: The initial re() is there to change periods to colons so they won't confuse the hierarchy. EDIT 2: If you use standard first letter grouping then you don't need to change the periods or make the column hierarchical. Last edited by chaley; 11-12-2022 at 10:34 AM. |

See the attached screen capture for how to create the right kind of custom column. I used names I like: "tb_title" and "TB Title". You might want to use different ones, but then be sure to follow the rules |
