Virtual library from list of title/author

I have a reading list from school that needs to be read for this semester. I have loaded most of them into calibre, and I am looking for a way to make a "playlist" of sorts...I guess a reading list...of just these titles. Maybe it would be possible to make a virtual library that viewed only these titles, perhaps based on a search that could parse the list and select titles that match records on that list? It would be trivial to transfer my school list to a csv of title and author, but not sure how to create a virtual library from a search on that csv. I would like to avoid saving them in a separate library if possible because I like having all records in the same file structure, and some titles are shared with the rest of my family

Virtual Libraries are defined by a search -- any search.
If the books are all by a specific group of authors, you can make a VL for those authors.
Of course, you can also make a VL that searches for all books with the Tag "School Reading List".

An alternative way to do this is with the Reading List plugin. You can manually create a list by adding books or use a search.

And if the list is long, you might want to look at the Import List plugin. It can import from a CSV or a web site and set the metadata for the books imported. In this case, you should be able to use this to add a tag like "Boring stuff I have to read for school".

Unfortunately, the books are not easily defined by a search for author or genre since they are kinda all over the map. I suppose a custom tag as you suggested would work, but I was hoping to be able to write a search that could match against a csv of the title/author since I already have access to that.

That Reading List plugin however seems to be mostly what I was looking for! I can add the titles to the list and view just those titles I need to read for school. It doesn't seem to filter the list of authors/tags on the side bar, but I can view the list and create a virtual library on the resulting search, and that takes care of that. Thanks for the tip Now...to read all these buggers.
