I'm with JSWolf. I prefer the symmetric shape. I had the H2O, gave it to my mother and bought the One for myself (I'm altruistic in that sense! she still had the old Sony). I almost never hold my reader. I always prop it up against something, preferably in bed (laying on my side).

The irregular shape is the reason I never even considered buying the Forma... The Elipsa also has that shape, but less outspoken (probably because the screen is larger, making that huge bezel smaller by comparison)

JB will price match (handy if you have one locally). The Kobo branded covers used to be pretty dire - do you know if the newer ones are better? (Or is the Booktopia one third-party?)

I ordered a second Forma a couple of months ago and was surprised that an updated version wasn't announced shortly thereafter.

My actual fear was that Kobo might decide to go back to go back to the shape of the Aura One and that some natural disaster might cause all current Formas to disappear. I can't imagine my life without the Forma so it was worth it to spend the money for a spare.

I do have weaker than average hands but I can't for the life of me understand how anyone can pick up and hold a Forma for five minutes and then go back to any other ereader.

Unfortunately, they don't have any in stock at any of the stores I can get to easily.

Or should that be "fortunately"?

It is the Kobo cover. I have never had any problems with them. The one on my Clara HD is well worn, but, also heavily used. The cover on my wife's Forma is about 2.5 years old and is showing wear around the edges, but, elsewhere is good. She has asked for a new cover, but, wants a different design this time.

Cool. Yes when I say "used to be pretty dire" I'm probably going way back to the Touch days! When they charged a small fortune for a very mediocre and poorly-sized cover

Thing is, if the extra bit of the bezel with the buttons was removed, the Forma would be even lighter. So with smaller bezel and no buttons and you'd have a Forma that weighs less then it does now.

Thanks for all your replies. I may just stick with the Libra. I wouldn't gain anything by getting a Forma (I realise I don't need the extra size for reading in bed) I'd like to see if the flush screen is nicer than the sunken bezel though.

It isn't just weight. It is how it is distributed and the shape of the bezel where it can be held.

And of course, they are even lighter when a cover is not used.

Well, yeaaahhh! Just take the screen, battery, and electronics and get a piece of styrofoam (and an exacto knife*) and start cutting!

Yeaahhhhh, that's the ticket!

It might weigh less, but it would also be less comfortable to hold. My Voyage was very lightweight, but it was not as comfortable to hold as my Oases and the Libra. And yes, that was regardless of a cover (or lack of it - tried both ways).

I am exactly the opposite. I have a Libra and would happily go back to my Kobo Glo HD if it would allow me to borrow library books without having to go through ADE and sideloading. I don't mind the buttons but don't really need them. But the weird shape is too odd for me; much prefer the regular rectangle.

If both of the devices are using the same Kobo account, and you have setup the library on the Libra H2O, any books borrowed should sync to the Glo HD. That isn't limited to borrowing through the device, but, should also work if you use Libby.

IMO that would defeat the purpose of getting a Forma. I want the buttons.

I don't know if it was the first Kobo with buttons but it was the first one I knew about, and that's why I got one as soon as possible.

Me too. My first two Kobos did not have buttons, but having moved to a Libra I need my buttons now!
