But I do find it interesting that two local online resellers both currently have 9% off both the Forma and the Libra. In the nearly three years I've owned Kobos, I've never seen this before, and wonder if it is a stock clearance exercise.
More likely, the impending Amazon Prime Day is providing the impetus to cut prices, prices, PRICES!

If it were a stock clearance, I'd expect the Clara to be more aggressively flogged off, but then the Nia limits where they can go with an offer.

Not really, if a product is good in the first place.
Benq BL2420PT (Current model, maybe first in 2016!) First decent LCD monitor I've had. I bought 1 S/H a few months ago and liked it so much I bought another to replace a 19" CRT.
Yaesu FT817ND (MUCH longer)
Paperwhite 3? was it more than 3 years? I bought a 2nd one just after the PW4 came out as I think it's a "better" screen.

But yes, the Forma is older than the Libra. I considered a Forma when upgrading from my original H2O, but it was €100 dearer than the Libra.

Eventually I bought a 7.8" Mars as a luxury to be able to have the local Library access (Borrowbox) directly on eInk as it can run some Android apps. About 1/2 way in price between the Libra and Forma, but terrible support for collections, series, annotations and Calibre compared to Kobo.

Mine is the alternative strategy: wait for an update and then buy the current Forma on closeout.

I admit, that is my usual tech strategy! But we're doing ok at the moment, and I read so much that I think it may well be worth it.

(I'm still struggling along on an iPad 4 (for video/magazines) so I don't think I'm being too profligate)

Amazon Prime Day is not a thing where I live, retailers here ignore it to such an extent that MR is the only online mention of it I see. Unlike cybermonday etc, which have been enthusiastically adopted here.

The sign up sheet will be available shortly, once I've configured it to accept whatever Unique National Identifier each MR member's country uses - gotta make sure I don't accidentally give anyone TWO

I'm waiting to see what happens this fall. I'm hoping a Forma update before I buy. I would love a Forma in the H2O form factor.

It's mot likely a Father's Day sale. I know in the US and UK, the Libra is on sale for Father's Day.

If it has the H2O form factor, I won't buy it. For me the current trend of irregularly shaped readers (Oasis, Forma, Libra) is a perfect fit. I will never buy anything in the old regular form factor, unless it weighs 100 g or less. Then I might be tempted, but not otherwise.

And of course I will never buy an ereader without buttons.

No buttons is a very useful feature.

I've been using the H2O for over 6 years. So I'm very used to it's form.

I used regularly shaped readers for 5 years, until the Oasis 1 came out. It felt like heaven to hold it, compared to the others. Since then I've been in love with this weird form factor. Well, I still bought the Nook in 2019, but at least it had comfily wide bezels and buttons. But I don't think I will buy the regular shape again, as long as the irregular one exists.

No. Fathers' Day here is months away. One of the the retailers is actually calling their promotion 'Kobo month', the offer is good until the end of June. I think it more likely to be tied in with the release of the Elipsa, which is getting unusual attention in this generally Kobo-free country.

I might be in trouble. Just looked at booktopia.com.au. They have the Forma at $375 vs the $399 at JB HiFi and $429 at Kobo. JB HiFi show delivery from $9.95 and Kobo is free. To see what Booktopia are charging for delivery, I put it in the cart. And they offered to upgrade to the bundle with the cover. For free. So, anyone in Australia that wants a Forma can get it with the cover for $375. Delivery was $7.95 to my location north of Sydney.

Now, I just have to decide.
