ERROR: Contacting Calibre Failed

Hello,
I keep getting this error when I am adding books:
Failed to write data to address: \\.\pipe\CalibreGUI-xxxx with error: Unknown error

I noticed it happened when I updated to 5.0

What O/S, what version of the O/S and where, exactly, is your library stored?

And if they were updating to 5.0 today, they're a bit late to the party. Perhaps trying an upgrade to 5.4.2 might be helpful.

Though again, where calibre was obtained, the OS and version, where the library is stored, etc. would be helpful.

Hi,
I have upgraded to 5.4.2 64bit and my OS is Windows 10. I have my calibre library saved on my PC -Programs. I have Kaspersky virus protection.

Sometimes double clicking or drag and drop

drag and drop will not generate that error. You could get that error when double clicking. It will happen if communicating between the calibre instance called to add the books and the running calibre fails. This typically happens because of an antivirus program interfering. To confirm try running windows in safe mode and see if the problem goes away.
