Calibre Error: Failed to redirect stdout/stderr to NUL.

Hi guys, this is my first thread ever, so please... be nice. It's been two days since I'm getting the following error and trying to solve it: Failed to redirect stdout/stderr to NUL. This indicates a corrupted Windows install. You should contact Microsoft for assistance and/or follow the steps described here: http://bytes.com/topic/net/answers/2...device-missing No such file or directory (Error Code: 2) I have tried pretty much everything I was able to find on the internet: 1) reinstalled 2) removed my Calibre settings (uninstall does not) located at C:\Users\username\appdata\roaming. Deleted the whole calibre folder. 3) checked the search path in case there is some other Python related folders ahead of the C:\Program files\Calibre2 that is the normal Calibre one. 4) installed an older version with my antivirus on hold 5) debugged in command prompt using the following command Code: calibre-debug -g 6)checked NUL registry (as per indications in the URL: http://bytes.com/topic/net/answers/2...device-missing) - all seems fine 7) erased every little thing that has to do with calibre and installed from scratch Nothing worked. Any ideas or suggestion will be very appreciated. I'm running Win7, 64bit with Kaspersky. |

@TeddyTwice - did you try the System File Checker (repair missing or corrupted system files) (← click) If that doesn't fix it, try installing the 32bit version, it will install into Program Files (X86), it's OK to leave the 64bit version as is. The 32bit will use the existing configuration data that's already in %APPDATA%\ BR |

This means that the NUL file service in your windows install is not running/corrupted. calibre requires a working NUL service. There are two techniques for repairing it in that link. If neither works, then you will need to contact Microsoft for assitance or re-install Windows.
