What would be interesting is to see whether automount is enabled on these computers on which Kobo's are not mounting.

If my Usb ports have been changed to generic, is there a solution to this possibility? My PC was made in March with a new tower with usb3 ports.

For sh**s and giggles if you have access to an old usb 2 hub, plug that into one of the usb 3 ports and then plug the Kobo into the usb 2 hub.

Kobo GLO doesn't connect 20 Win10 (2004)

worked before, same cable, same laptop, same e-reader. Windows doesn't recognize the e-reader at all. ADE & Calibre therefore can't be used.

HELP!

Unfortunately, worked before doesn't mean that much. The cable could have been damaged, Windows might have updated something or the port could have been disabled somehow. And until you get Windows to recognise the device, nothing that tries to use it will be able to do anything.

The standard trouble-shooting suggestions are to try different cables, ports, another computer, reboot the device and PC. Then make sure Windows, or your anti-virus isn't blocking it some way. Most respond to one of these things. Unfortunately, it could be a damaged port on the device. That might not be fixable.
