Caliber does not recognize my Kobo Aura One

Hello forum

Since coming home from vacation, I can't connect my Kobo to Calibre. I did all the updates to Windows 10, my Kobo, and Calibre.
When I plug my eReader into the PC, I log in and nothing happens.
Previously the toolbar changed and I could send my books without worries
Since then nothing has happened.

If anyone has a solution?

That log showed a Kobo touch

Be sure you did not accidentally Ignore that device:
Preferences: Ignored devices: remove it if it is there.

IIRC this item may not appear if there are NO devices ignored, so no worries.

The log shows no disabled drivers. I'm hoping the guru @davidfor can confirm that a drive letter is being assigned at the O/S level.

(I should experiment. I thought windows had the ability to mount a usb device as either a letter or a mount point on another drive)

The device is mounted as F.

You need to look at why Windows isn't mounting it. Have you tried the suggestions @DNSB made in the Kobo forum? As well, reboot the device or the PC. There are some things that can happen to put the USB port in an unusable state. A reboot is the only thing I have found to fix that.

When I look closely, the kobo does not appear in the file explorer.
If I look in device manager the kobo is recognized correctly, but when I look in computer management I notice that the kobo drive is not allocated and therefore does not have a letter assigned.
How do I proceed?

No letter sometimes indicates a damaged file system. Try using ( the repair option 'error checking') on the drive

i am having the same issue, i think a recent win10 update broke it. I actually factory reset my kobo, rebooted pc, launched calibre, reloaded all books (it actually connected)

then this morning tried to put another book on kobo, pc didnt recognise the reader. rebooted pc launched calibre and it then recognised and let me add book.

later on this afternoon (gotta stop buying books) bought a couple of books tried to attach to pc and it would not recognise, so repeated the reboot pc launch calibre then it connected and could add books.

i then tested again by reconnecting ereader (after i disconnected) and it would not recognise. then tried to charge phone from same cable and would not recognise that.

so def a win 10 issue but a reboot of pc should fix it (not shut down as most pcs are set to do fast boot if you shut down so restart is the only thing that worked for me.)

One thing to try is to go into Device Manager and delete the USB drivers and let Windows reinstall them.

in fact, Windows no longer recognizes any e-reader from the last update. I have tried on several PCs and it's the same.
So I bought the Pocketbook Inkpad3 e-reader. Why? because it allows uploads of books via Dropbox, without problems.

I have two Win10 laptops that disagree with that. I haven't had any issues connecting my Kobo devices to either in recent history.

I have windows 10 version 2004.
My son has a pc with windows xp and one with windows 10 v 2004.
My Kobo and my Pocketbook work with XP but not Windows 10. We will have to wait for a patch from Microsoft, I suppose.

I suspect your PC brand (models) had custom USB drivers and 2004 messed those up (along with a bunch of other stuff) by installing Generic ones.
My Toshiba is running 2004 Home (was originally W7 when I got it

) and it has no trouble seeing my Kobo.

IIRC this item may not appear if there are NO devices ignored, so no worries.

I'm hoping the guru @davidfor can confirm that a drive letter is being assigned at the O/S level. (I should experiment. I thought windows had the ability to mount a usb device as either a letter or a mount point on another drive)

If I look in device manager the kobo is recognized correctly, but when I look in computer management I notice that the kobo drive is not allocated and therefore does not have a letter assigned. How do I proceed?

Try using ( the repair option 'error checking') on the drive

I have tried on several PCs and it's the same. So I bought the Pocketbook Inkpad3 e-reader. Why? because it allows uploads of books via Dropbox, without problems.

My son has a pc with windows xp and one with windows 10 v 2004. My Kobo and my Pocketbook work with XP but not Windows 10. We will have to wait for a patch from Microsoft, I suppose.
