Just browsing the site. What is the difference between the Aura second edition and the Limited edition other than price.

The size of the internal storage. Originally the Limited Edition versions were intended for the Japanese markets where manga is post popular and the files large.

i agree the external micro SD card slot's usefulness cannot be overestimated.

best wishes Koboy

I can't imagine a currently available ereader being an improvement over my KA1.

Thanks all for the feedback.
Highly appreciate.

Another question:
How's the highlighting on Kobo Aura One?
Does it work as smooth as Kobo Clara HD?

I understand that highlighting on Kobo old models is quite wonky, as in laggy and lack of precision. Modifying a selected phrase sometimes could be be a nightmare (had that on Kobo Glo HD).

Unless you want buttons, which I did. The Forma is pretty much a One with buttons.

Worse. The offset was bad, they improved it via firmware update, but it continues to be a bit off, specially near the bottom. I've become used to touch abit to the left when I'm using the menu in the bottom, but sometimes it takes me various attempts to get the correct option. It isn't so bad if you are not near the bottom.

There's no evidence that high-frequency PWM present any problem at all to humans, and the explanations that anti-PWM posters have used do not make physiological/neurological sense when you dig more deeply.

They sure can plant some FUD, though. It's your choice whether to be affected by it.

The same place I bought my Aura ONE from last year for £190 is now selling the last of their stock for £150, which is an absolute steal. I'm very tempted to buy a spare, because I'm concerned Kobo won't make another tablet-style reader without buttons with a screen this size.

I've bought my KA1 last year shortly before the Forma was released as a replacement to another unit that I accidentally broke.

Honestly, I usually feel some sort of need to replace my other devices such as laptops or phone when a new one comes out, but that has definitely not happened with the Aura One. I think it still holds up pretty well. Battery life is fine (with 30 to 60 minutes a day of reading it lasts something around 4 weeks), the screen resolution is crisp and page turns are pretty smooth when reading kepubs.

If you can get a good deal on one, I think it's still worth it.

Pretty easy for me:

- faster CPU; the KA1 is v e r y s l o www (presumably to help battery life?)
- better digitizer; the touch accuracy on three Auras that I have owned has all been bad
- better tuning of curves for natural light; it doesn't keep the same apparent colour when you brighten or darken the screen
- better bookmarks and annotations UI; no concrete suggestions from me, but it seems to take far too many button presses to use annotations, which is maddening when the touch accuracy is questionable (and that's if you are even able to highlight the text you wanted to in the first place!)

All that said, I'm not sure there is a reader on the market I prefer over it at the moment.

I don't think it's necessarily FUD. PWM is definitely visible as flickering for many people, especially at low brightness and if viewed under a light that itself switches on and off since that causes beats. Maybe this is lessened with high enough frequency but it is undeniable the effect is there to some degree.

So, basically, "PWM is bad when implemented badly". I don't believe there is any evidence of problems at the frequency used by the Forma.

The interaction with other PWM or flashing lights is a concern. But, again, it is the interaction with other badly implemented PWM or whatever is used there.

touch accuracy problems

Consider the KA1's touch accuracy may be a problem. So if you use often the pop-up dictionary, could be annoying.
Anyway the bug might be fixed with a future firmware update
