YouTube app is always a undesired thing in your life. Much better the YouTube Cancer app I told before. No Google, no ads and background playback.

Can you try again the YouTube webpage with Firefox Rocket and with Chrome?

I've managed to get my Nova back to where I had it before YouTube!

Both Firefox and Chrome were much worse than the stock browser. The videos barely moved at all on either one.

Hi downeaster59, thank you for posting your opinions about the Nova. I was looking forward to read opinion from somebody who own both Nova and Mars.

When you have more time could you please do more detailed comparison between the two e-readers and especially which one by your opinion is better buy? Nova is 50 Euros more expensive on Aliexpress so I wander is it worth the premium?

It's nearly time for me to call it a day, but I'll offer a more detailed comparison once I have more experience with the Nova and see what it can and can't do.

One last word - you can add your own fonts to your Nova. Create a folder called "Fonts" on the Nova, and add whatever fonts you have to that folder. The stock reader and most third party reader apps (Moon for sure) will find the fonts and offer them along with their own as options.

downeaster59, in moonreader if you install goldendict or colordict, can you use it?. I get a not installed dictionaries message.

Now i don't have the reader with me but i made it work.
I tried to order books by "last read" or "last opened", i don't remember exactly using filter widget in library top right spot.
It didn't work with the october firmware.
Then i switched in chinese for updating the firmware
(i watched ideograms through my smartphone google translating from chinese to english by the camera

)
After updating the firmware, it started to work.
So last books i open are always first to be presented in Library.

after looking at the Nova user manual, i noticed the front light adjust from the status dropdown has disappeared for me on the latest firmware released 11-21.

is there a config to get it back? at the moment i have to go to NeoReader and open a book, and adjust the front light from there

I haven't installed a dictionary yet. When I do, I'll let you know if I can use it.

As for the November update, I may wait. When I had the Note, Onyx's practice was to release an update for Chinese users first, and then release it later (with possibly a few more tweaks) to everyone else. I'm assuming that Onyx still does updates this way.

This looks exactly like my problem. I'll do a factory reset and try again, but the issue is I primarily need Play Store for a local library app, which requires updated Play Services, and then I'm back to where I am. Hopefully Onyx will fix this soon.

I ran into this same problem when I updated Google Play Services while trying to install something else, but without the November firmware update. I had to do a factory reset and start over. Onyx seems to have jury-rigged their Play Store integration in the Nova. Anything different - even updating Play Services - messes up the jury-rigging. Yes, Onyx needs to fix this soon.

The Nova firmware, by default, auto-freezes user-installed apps. I wonder if the firmware mistakes the updated Play Services for a user-installed app, and then automatically freezes it, thus causing the crashes? If that's the issue, a fix should be simple.

i am on the november update and have no issues with the play store situation.

but i posted earlier about the front light config disappearing on the status bar dropdown -- im not sure if thats part of the firmware or not.

I've tried a few dictionaries and get the same message in Moon.

Anyone else have better luck?

did a factory reset for nova; cause some apps i side loaded left some residuals so wanted it clean.

anyways so it wa a chance to test the google play thing.
i downloaded the patcher and in it, it gave me a device number thing ?
went back looking for the GSF ID thing but it only appeared after enabling the google play store
next inside it tried to log in it gave me two numbers this time !?
but yeah went out of it, logged through the normal google play store
and it works even after rebooting the device
