I use a Lenovo Yoga 2 8 inch, my partner uses the much cheaper Lenovo Tab S8. She just does browsing, emails and video streaming on it and loves it. No issues with either of our Lenovos.

If you are still following this thread, I have a small question...why did you buy the Samsung version instead of the Samsung/Nook version? Would the Nook version be hampered by the Nook skinning? I still haven't decided between the two. |

All things being equal (i.e. price and specs) I would never chose a closed ecosystem device over a more open one. Granted google play is available on the Nook but can the Amazon app store also be installed? Honestly, I have no idea how locked down the Nook version is, if at all, but why even consider it unless you absolutely love their native reading software. Personally I think are too many 3rd party reading apps that do a better job (Mantano, Aldiko and MoonReader to name a few).

I think the catch to the Samsung Nook is you can't uninstall the Nook App.
If it is anything like my Kindle pre-installed Android tablet. If it has Google Play, more than likely you can install Amazon. |

Google Play doesn't have the Amazon app store (or any other third-party app stores). It must be sideloaded to non-Amazon devices and can in this case. Last edited by AnemicOak; 02-14-2016 at 12:16 AM. |

I finally made my big decision, thanks to all who answered my picky questions in this thread and others. For me, the Samsung Galaxy Tab s2 is the best of all worlds. The screen is gorgeous...that is for sure! Every good thing others have said is true. I chose the non Nook version just because of nagging doubts about the future. I have downloaded the Nook app and I do like it....as well as kindle app calibre companion and moon+Reader Pro(my fav app). Just love reading on this tablet!!
Unfortunately for me the finger print scanner did not work..probably I messed it up somehow! Luckily I do not lock my devices. |

If you're going to put a case on it I highly recommend the RooCase Origami cover, it's thin and light and allows you to set it in portrait orientation for reading. The fact that this case (or one like it) wasn't available for the asus zenpad is one of the reasons I chose the Samsung. |

![]() I bought the Turquoise one and its lovely. The stand options work perfectly in both portrait and landscape. I also put a glass screen protector on it as well (my first time with one of those) and i'm well pleased with it. ![]() |

Is the samsung galaxy tab s2 still comfortable to hold and read when you are using the Roocase Origami cover? I have checked out the reviews but that is not mentioned. I would probably fold it back to read so that would be important...that it is still comfortable to hold when reading.
I haven't tried out the text to speech option....sounds like I will have to give it a go. ![]() |
