Anyone else dislikes tablets - all tablets?

I've played with iPads in stores and I actually bought a Fire. I find I really dislike the Fire for pretty much everything. The weight seems uncomfortably high for reading and web browsing is awful. Even browsing Amazon's books is bad. Each time I go to the next page of books I need to expand the page again to get the text the right size. I keep selecting a book or other link when all I wanted to to was expand it or scroll and selecting one of two closely spaced links if one is just below the other is frustrating. It took me five tries once to get the right one. I haven't tried an eink reader with a touch screen but if they are as difficult to control as tablets then I probably will avoid them if at all possible. I take the Fire to work occasionally to use during my break but after half an hour of frustration with nothing accomplished I give up and go looking for a free computer terminal. Sorry about the rant but I've about given up on tablets and touch screens and am about ready to toss it as wasted money.

Some tablets are better than others. The ipad is one of the best. The Kindle Fire, not so much, IMO. You'd be better off with an ipad, with it's larger screen. But it's still not going to be a 20" computer monitor. Tablets are portable computers. You can't take a terminal with you on the go. Perhaps you should get a Chromebook. They are great for web browsing, have a good size screen and good resolution. And you can attach a mouse to it.

For just reading, no need for a tablet. Get a Kindle or a Kobo. Much lighter, and longer battery life.

Couldn't live without them... As with DiapDealer, I use mine for almost everything (in fact, everything but work and gaming, I think even a 17" laptop is too small for that :P)

Nope - tablets have their place in the electronic device world. I love all the ones that I have.

I have a Macbook, an iPhone, and a Kindle Paperwhite. I really don't see what a tablet would do that I can't do on one of my other devices. I'm sure I would like it if I got one (and my kid would love it), I just can't justify it.

Not dislike, more like meh. With the exception of a larger screen and larger battery, I just haven't found it to have any advantages over a smartphone.

I don't really care for them. I did buy a used nook color for cookbooks, but that's it.

I do not have a problem with reading on a tablet due to weight or size. I guess all those years reading hard cover books helped.

There are some interesting hybrid devices appearing on the market now. I've just bought an Onyx T68 Lynx, which is an Android tablet with an eInk screen, so you can install your favourite reading apps rather than relying on what's built in. It works pretty well.

I don't care for them either. My mum has an ipad and I found it underwhelming. We were both surprised by its weight. It's too heavy. Other than emails and some movies, it's barely used. I prefer my laptop and Nook.

As a heavy reader - for pleasure and work - and someone who needs regular access to the Internet and email, those two features are precisely why I cannot imagine life without BOTH my 7" NOOK HD (hybrid ereader/tablet) and my smartphone. If and when my NOOK malfunctions, breaks, or disappears, I'll replace it immediately with a similarly sized, reader-friendly tablet.

It seems it's largely personal preference. Unless my needs change, I can't see myself ever buying another tablet, unless eink readers are no longer available.

For now, I suppose if I absolutely had to have a portable device that would read various formats .. but my smartphone does that, and it fits in my pocket. Well, maybe if I had to read a document outside in bright sunlight .. but I can convert documents to a compatible format in calibre readable by the PW2. I know! If I had $400+ I absolutely had to spend today...

For me, a tablet is a solution in search of a problem.

How do you keep from selecting when you want to scroll or change text size? And can you fix the text size so you don't have to readjust it for each new page? I find I spend half my time undoing inadvertant page changes while web browsing.
