Good idea. The Ride of the Valkyries springs to mind. I love the smell of napalm etc. etc...

As I said, a good idea. But can I find where to change default sounds in the wonderful world of Windows 10? Can I hell... I guess I could Google it, but the movie I have lined up is calling to me. Maybe tomorrow.

Control Panel > Change system sounds. If your search is working, just searching sounds should bring it up as the first result.

You can also get to it by right-clicking the volume icon in your task tray, and selecting Sounds.

The sound files themselves are located in C:\Windows\Media.

Has anyone else found that Firefox and Chrome are slow-opening on Windows 10, while Microsoft Edge opens in a heartbeat even when it isn't set to be the default browser?

No Chrome slowness here. Could be an extension issue, though. I've heard that some browser extensions are having difficulty loading after the upgrade, but apparently none that I'm using.

There is only one Windows installer for both Home and Pro versions. One ISO.

As AnotherCat said, there are special disks for special editions, e.g. the EU/Korea/Chinese crackers editions, where it is legally problematic to distribute certain components on the ISO.

Home/Pro is unlocked at install time. Multiple ISOs is a waste of electrons.
Sorry, but your links generate a 403 and the download now tool makes you choose which version Windows 10 to download. You can only create an install USB or DVD from ONE version Windows 10. I used it to create the 64-bit Windows Pro install.

My understanding is that to use an iso on media (whether purchased or downloaded using the Media Creation Tool, or directly from Microsoft downloads) the target PC has to have been updated by the free offer process online, or by using the direct installation process of the Media Creation Tool first, or by purchasing a key (a purchased key does not have to be for the same version of Windows 7/8/10 that was previously on the PC).

I do not know why it is like that but I assume that one reason is that the iso on media that one may burn now using the Tool, will still be in your possession after the 1 years free upgrade offer ends.

Apologies if I have misunderstood your post.
You download the version of Windows 10 you need to a USB memory stick and then you boot into the Windows your computer is running. You then run the install from there. You do not need a key. You only need a key if you boot from the USB. Then you'd need to enter a key.

I know, I know, I know.... . (But I add, you do not have to use a USB memory stick.)

You do not understand the context of my post and to do so you need to look at the post that I was responding to, and if still confused then look at my responses to another who also did not do so.

The fact is, as you allude to in your "You download the version of Windows 10 you need", one cannot install Home using a Pro download from the Media Creation Tool. That was the case my post was responding to and with which several have subsequently confirmed is the case, they having tried.

Firefox opens it seems a tad faster here.

Granted there are some lags, within the win10 system it seems, but mostly with first time use.

Well, I finally decided to try User Agent Switcher.

MCT redirects to direct ISO download if you have a linux (or iPhone 3.0) user agent, and direct ISO download redirects to MCT if you have a Windows user agent.

I agree completely with your explanations about this .

Windows Internet Explorer users can get the full iso link ESchwartz refers to by selecting "Apple Safari", for example, as the User Agent string in IE's Developer Tools (press F12). In IE11 it is under Emulation, but in earlier versions of IE I think it was under Tools.

Well that's just the thing. Where is Control Panel? From what I've read, Settings has replaced it, and when I go in there, there are no options for Sound.

However, you other suggestions have got me there, thanks very much . I should have thought of the right-click on the volume icon . Shows what too little sleep and a bit too much wine will do for you...

And nice to see you back, btw.
