Lucky me.....I've also got that 'touch keyboard' in my system taskbar next to the notifications icon......maybe it thinks my desktop is a windows phone.

Based on my extensive experience the Last edited by ... line only appears if a post was edited at least three minutes after it was posted. But sometimes three minutes isn't enough...
Also, if you specify an edit message it will force that line to show up.

You can't just right-click on the taskbar and remove the check next to "Show Touch Keyboard Button"?

OK, back to the OP. As I reported earlier my SP3 has been having battery issues and running hotter than before since upgrading. It seems to be a bit random, but is happening more often than not. I little Googling reveals that it not an uncommon problem, and is also happening on other models but more often on SP3s.

In a year old article, One user reports that it is caused by the Windows Installer Module and the Windows Installer Module Worker, which start in the background at random times and cause the CPU to work at bigger speeds. I can't fathom why it should start up again with the Win10 update though.

MS has not addressed this problem yet, but they are aware of it. And the pundents say that they will issue a fix soon.

Well it had to happen. My first Win 10 BSoD. I wasn't even using it at the time. However, when I powered off and back on again, it started configuring Windows updates, so I guess that's what caused it.

Looks like a couple conversations going on concurrently... Ok, lemme see:

"why do I need a DVD": 'Cause on the ONE system out of FOUR that would even do the download, when I selected a USB drive I NEVER FOUND IT. I formatted an 8GB flash drive as FAT32 and it DIDN'T FIND IT. I formatted it as NTFS and IT STILL DIDN'T FIND IT. The &^%$#@! software doesn't give me the OPTION of TELLING it what drive the usb flash drive is in, so that option appears to be screwed too...

"We have had no problem (apart from one need to retry which then worked) burning a few DVDs with the Media Creation Tool and that without kicking any puppies . So it does work.

I have had no need to look at the suggestions people have been making on other sites but in case not mentioned have you tried using the tool when most of the populated world is offline e.g. around 12 hours ahead of Universal Time? "

ONE laptop (out of four systems) DOES SAY it's finished downloading. So, time shouldn't matter as near as I can tell. It THEN goes into some verification, THEN SAYS it's doing "media creation", which I PRESUME is local since it SAYS it downloaded 100%, then at about 50% it PUKES again and throws a DIFFERENT "Something happened" error...

For all of you that have been successful, I"m happy for you. But there are a WHOLE bunch of people out there seeing the same kind of idiotic problems I am, and trying all sorts of things to get things to work...

During the verification process it connects with MS as far as I am aware. I would also suspect, with a reasonable level of confidence, that it also does so from time to time during the subsequent "creation" steps until the iso is actually on the hard drive ready to burn.

In my experience over a variety of different situations, if one loses a link to a remote server over the internet, due to server load for example, it is most likely to drop in situations where there are gaps in the need for them to "chat" to each other, such as there are in the above.

But good luck, I hope you get it sorted. Doesn't sound as if you are in the right frame of mind to do so though .

As far as I am aware both Home and Pro are on the same iso. If one forgets about Enterprise my understanding is that there are 4 isos for each of x32 and x64:

Windows 10 N for Europe (i.e. the EU "banned" parts of Windows are not included)

Windows 10 K for Korea (i.e. localised)

Windows 10 Single Language

and Windows 10 for the rest of us who live in the free world.

I have had no need to test this in real life yet but it is my understanding.

Knowing how much of a Windows fan you are, I would have expected you know this better than a linuxhead like me:
There is only one Windows installer for both Home and Pro versions. One ISO.

As AnotherCat said, there are special disks for special editions, e.g. the EU/Korea/Chinese crackers editions, where it is legally problematic to distribute certain components on the ISO.

Home/Pro is unlocked at install time. Multiple ISOs is a waste of electrons.

That's just a bad link for the media creation tool - google it or go back in the thread and pick it up. Maybe eschwartz will post it again.
