I have no idea why 4.5.2 was pushed twice, but I had some problems after the first update (screen went blank several times and HDMI wouldn't connect without a reboot). I haven't had similar issues since the second update.

My guess the first update wasn't signed correctly and the second update fix that and it could have some extra fixes in it they forgot.

Two more days til my girls discover they are each getting their own Fire HD 6 tablets! I can hardly wait. I can hardly believe I've managed to keep it a secret. My little one (9) was just yesterday describing how her Nook doesn't have any cameras, so she can't snap chat with her friend. (she uses a 2012 Fire HD for it, so I don't know why she was complaining....guess because it's not "hers").

Well crud I guess I'll have to side load it. But I already wrapped the tablet.

Did you setup the OverDrive app with library accounts added and signed into?

Oh I seen them at BB it has a lovely screen but I mention that because the 7" HDX uses Blue LEDs which causes light bleed to form a blue haze around the screen but 8.9 uses White LEDs so it does not have this problem.

A huge issue with the 2014 kindle fire hdx 8.9 4th gen. Amazon disabled purchase of the Aldiko Premium, Moon+ Reader Pro & Mantano ebook readers. Trying to purchase them using the windows platform, msg comes up claiming that I would be buying an app that won't work on my fire hdx that had the 4.5.2 update today.

I got my fire hdx 8.9 today & was trying to setup the kindle. Read a couple of recent reviews on Amazon about the Moon Reader Pro saying that it didn't work which verifies Amazon "did something to kill epub" access?

It looks like the kindle is a bad purchase; will fire off email to Aldiko, Moon Reader & Mantano about the Amazon issue.

So, any suggestions on a good epub reader for the kindle now?

Just sideload them from another Android device. It's always been this way since the first Kindle Fire came out. Install Amazon App store on another device and install what apps you want on your HDX then use ES File Explorer to back the app up to apk then sideload the apk to the HDX and install.

BUT All 3 of the ereaders say that one can buy them from the Kindle store??!!! Is it just now that Amazon killed even displaying them on the app store because of the the ereaders won't read azw which I didn't need to do anyway? The wording say that the readers won't work which also mean, to me, won't install & run.

Will use total commander to find the 3 apks.........if not will get es explorer to find them.

Nope it's always been this way. You have to have another device registered to buy them. Sideloading has always been like this. The only eReader is Overdrive that they let you use without jumping through hoops.
