You know you've got a bad cold when your own snoring wakes you up. LOL.

Geez, if I didn't know better, I'd swear that the new Star Wars Teaser Trailer was fan made... It just seems to lack any kind of energy to get my excited.

[RANT] So, yesterday, I spent 4+ hours on the phone with the TS folks at Eastlink (who bought out our local Coast Cable a couple of years ago) because my cable modem kept dropping its connection and then resyncing. During this time, I was told (repeatedly) that I couldn't possibly have a fixed IP address, that I couldn't keep a fixed IP address, and that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my modem. We even ended up with a "supervisor" who ultimately hung up on me.

So, I called their SALES department, and asked to bump up to the next speed level ($10/mo). No problem, you can keep your fixed IP address, and oh, you won't have to change the modem. Wrong answer. OK, how about we go up two levels, for $20/mo? Oh, well, you'll need to change your modem, but yes, you can keep the fixe IP address (that I've had for 10 years since we moved here.) Great. Do it.

Tech comes out today, says yup, we can do that. We reconfigure the NEW modem to factory default, disabling the router functionality in it, put it in Bridging mode, connect everything up, and I have my IP address, thank you. Then, as he's leaving, he tells me that ALL the model of modem that we replaced have dropout problems ever since they upgraded to a pure digital network. ALL of them. But they won't change them out unless someone complains. [/RANT]

And, as we finish up, he gives me his phone number and says "any problems, just call me." HE is part of the old Coast Cable group. They were a pleasure to deal with, and when you can deal with the local people, you're in good hands.

CRussel, I've have a hard time with my Internet Service Provider, AT&T, for a few years now, ever since they switched to U-Verse. *shaking head* It's an awful company to deal with now. I almost dread calling them when I'm without internet access for days.

It's good you were able to resolve the issue finally.

NB. And you just got some karma from me when I tested that the above works!
Thank you for the karma, Bilbo, and for the advice. I'll try that once I have my Galaxy Note. I left it at the office. I call my storage unit an office. lol I'm actually turning it into my work space, since I'm having a bit of trouble concentrating here.

*giving you Karma back*

Hamlet, I like the idea of Indigenous Peoples' Day. I wrote a research paper on Columbus years ago and what I found out--the things he did were... horrendous to say the least. *shiver* I'm part Native American so I see myself when I look at Native Americans. In fact, when I lived in New Mexico I was asked "What tribe are you from?" a lot.

I wish more people were open-minded and knowledgeable... but I'm delving into political stuff. >.>

I wish I could root my Kindle Touch! I found out just recently that I could root my Nook Simple Touch, but I'm afraid to try it on the one NST I have. It's in excellent condition. If I had another one to experiment on, I would. *nods*

Never thought to try this, altough I open every site in its own tab. I feel like an idiot. It works, I've just tested it on your own karma button.

So, I decided to move some junk out of the house into the crawl space under the house - and halfway down the back stairs, whilst wrestling (and losing) with a trash bagged heavy piece of exercise equipment no longer used ... I remembered .... the heavy duty folding hand truck I bought earlier this year - for just such an occasion - that I carefully stored under the bed ... so it would be instantly available for moving heavy items ...

I guess it will come in useful for moving me if sitting on a heating pad doesn't loosen my back a bit ...

As an over-the-hill athlete who lives on the stuff.... ice for 20 minutes, then heat for 20, then ice for another 20, followed by heat for another 20....
Repeat as needed.

Another God-send for us old fogies; Go to your local Walmart, Target, discount store/electric outlet and find a Omron Electronic Nerve Stimulator. My wife bought me the 4-pad version but the 2-pad is more than enough. When set for Region "waist," and Massage "knead," and the pads placed on opposite sides of lumbar spine, it's 'almost' as good as a deep muscle massage. Some mornings when I wake up and can't bend enough to touch my knees, 20 minutes with the Omron and I'm ready to dance the Nutcracker! Well... OK... maybe 40 minutes. But it sure feels good. I don't know if these devices actually 'cure' anything, but they certainly loosen up and relax tight muscles.

The Kindle Touch is the most resilient commonly-owned Kindle device, almost anything you can do to it will be repaired with Kubrick. And as long as you stick to what other people have done, it will most likely not be needed.

About the only thing Kubrick cannot fix is something like a failed flash chip -- which anyway happens when you run out of power during official updates, which isn't even the fault of a hack.

Okay, I'll try it out. Give me a few days to muster up the courage. *petses Kindle*

Rooting my Nook Tablets was so much easier... because they're rooted with microSD cards. *nods*

Ice never works for my back - just tightens it up more - I find intense heat - hot as I can stand - works the best.

Stitchy - thanks for the info on the Omron - I've seen commercials but dismissed them as a gimmick - I'll have to check them out.
