I'm freeloading off my brother-in-law's Prime account so I sure hope he thinks it's worth it at the new price! Because it's not my account, I don't get free streaming or Kindle books.

For comparison, I have a yearly subscription to a local internet grocer, the price goes up every year and it's now at $119/year. Plus on any given order they can still charge me a couple bucks in a "fuel surcharge."

So I tried the Digital Reader workaround, and I'm not seeing any "do not renew" option.
When I go to the "Manage My Prime Account" section my only option is to cancel the whole thing right now. I can't just stop it from renewing in May; it wants to kill the subscription immediately. I'm in the middle of a book I borrowed through Prime right now, but when I finish this weekend I think I'm just going to do the "cancel now" thing. Otherwise, I have to remember to do it on May 25th so I'm not "automagically" charged on the 26th.

I renewed in early February, so I'm already locked in this year at $79. I won't be renewing at $99. Netflix is more convenient for streaming since I can watch it from my tablet or phone, and the interface is a lot better than Amazon Instant's even on my Roku and Blu-ray player. The shipping and free Kindle First books just aren't worth the extra $20 a year to me.

I used the "end membership" option and chose to end at the end of my year (so next February).

Based on some of the comments, I decided to take a look at Netflix to see what Netflix offers vs. what Amazon offers. Are they kidding? No search function on the Web site? I'm supposed to just browse endlessly through genres and subgenres? Can't search by director or actor? Instant dealbreaker!

No search function on which website? I can search for movies, actors, directors, etc. on either Amazon or Netflix.
