Amazon may raise Prime prices. - Page 13

I doubt I will renew later this year. It's just not worth it anymore. It use to be you could order something and get free 2 day shipping now you have to order at least $25 worth of items that are shipped from Amazon.com to qualify (Merchants do not count). More and more items are being moved to the Add On program which is a huge rip off.

In the last month I have been force to buy from Amazon Marketplace just to get items I needed because Amazon refuses to let me buy them even if I would pay for shipping.

I wonder if they are targeting specific users? The other day I placed two separate orders, both under $25, and 2nd day shipping was free. And i've placed similar low value orders and get 2nd day shipping for free?

Thank you. I think people are forgetting that Prime offers a variety of services and not all of us joined for the same reason.

It depends on what you are ordering. Most everyday items are Add On items now. I ordered some foot care items are had to use Merchants because Amazon wont let me buy from them anymore without buying $25 worth of items that is shipped directly from them.

I'd rather buy from Amazon and pay shipping then buy from merchants and get old expired junk but I can't pay $25 every time I put in an order for a couple of items I need right away. What good is Prime shipping if I can't use it!

I have Prime as a "family member" under someone else's account. I'm trying to make better use of it because I do live 30 miles from most stores, but they are really ticking me off lately with things like add-on items Blossom mentioned, also discontinuing a lot of subscribe and save items, missing the two day shipping guarantee, and poor packaging.

Last week my husband needed something that was an addon item so we ordered a bunch of everyday items we use all the time, and the box arrived with sticky hair gel exploded over everything in the box because they didn't tape it. I've ordered the same hair gel before and it was always wrapped or taped. When they shipped the replacement, it still was not taped! Then I was thrilled to find my dog food was in Prime because going to the feed store is a hassle. Well, next time I went to reorder, it's no longer under Prime and costs a fortune to ship. Grrr! My town sucks for shopping, but Amazon is getting just as frustrating.

So did they add any new bennies when they hiked the price? They could have softened the blow a little by adding more cloud storage or something.

I ordered a floor scrub brush which is basically a big scrub brush with a broom handle. Some idiot took two and I'm not kidding, two rolls of plastic wrap, cut them into sheets and wrap it head to toe really tightly in all kinds of directions! It took me nearly two hours to unwrap it and I scratch the handle up badly with my scissors. My arms were hurting when I finished. You bet I left packing feedback on that one. It was like someone played a joke on me. It probably took four people to make that mess. Idiots!

The two days is now 3 days UPS and 4 FedEx Smartpost, only FedEx is still two days.

Amazon Prime is not what it once was.

We use prime all the time. We watch movies on it, kid watches cartoons on it. We read the free books and order quite a bit of stuff off of there so I think for us it will still be worth it.

I'm renewing. It's 79.00 or 99.00 well spent. I try to use as many of the perks of the program as I can. Free free 2-day shipping, to free streaming, to free lending library, to the Kindle First program. I am definitely getting my money's worth.

EDIT: Just checked my account and I am all paid up until 3/5/2015. So I can another year at $79.00. Works for me!!

Apparently the arbitrary cut-off date for the higher rate is April 17, 2014. Weird. I am supposed to be renewed today, 02/13 but nothing has been charged yet. We'll see. Love AP but if there is a snafu I have mixed feelings. Amazon does not lose money on the sort of items I buy and I feel as if I am having to pay for those who indeed order a $5 item and have it sent 2-day or even overnight for the extra $4-$5/item.

Not Android tablets, unless you count the Fire. You can get it working in a web browser on Android by jumping through some hoops, but in my experience the video isn't as good as with the Fire or the iOS app. What a lot of folks want is an actual Android app that they can download similar to what iOS has.

For myself I'm sure I'll likely renew. I like the 2 day shipping, even though I don't buy as much as I once did, and the steaming is great on my Blu-Ray player and Roku boxes. The book aspects are something that I don't really use much.
