hey guys, i installed the jailbreak in hope of getting rid of the ads, but did some further research (i know, should have done that first ) and decided to pay amazon the extra money. i received the PW2 as a gift for christmass and I live outside the US, so they are completely useless to me and quite annoying... so i ran the uninstall file and everything went smoothly is there a way to verify if my kindle is back to factory settings? I did RTFM, but didn't find anything about this. thank you, cheers! |

they just said open your wifi and let the device update itself. I did it many times. The device downloaded the new version itself the device tried to update itself but it can't do it. the device is restarting itself again and again. but the version doesn't change. |

Hey, I did jerk break as your instruction, but the Update Your Kindle link stays gray. My device is 3G paperwhite2. I bought it in US and shipped to GA. My serial # is 90DA.

@cheerhou: Hmm, that's a new one. Can you check again to make sure it's really 90DA? And by GA, do you mean Gabon (in which case feel free to answer me in French, if you're more comfortable in that language)? |

				Hello all! Questions!

Hello all! After browsing here and digesting all kinds of tech info, I decided o jailbreak my Kindle. It is a PW2 with the 5.4.2 firmware. My reason for doing this was to use the collections plugin/etc. It did not work (This happened a bit less than a month ago). Anyway...I haven't found info however on the following (Call me "search challenged") the info was too much for me: 1. What can I do with my JB PW 5.4.2. Kindle? Screensavers, fonts, read alternative formats? Do I have this right? Can I do something else? 2. Can I unjailbreak it? I saw a link with instructions firther down at about page 39 I think but there was no header on how to unjailbreak. I found unbricking, etc. 3. Can I downgrade it? 4. Is there a way to manage collections as it was done with the PW1 with a plugin/app etc? Or using Calibre? Anyway...that's it. I hope people are not angered with the questions but really...I got lots into to any search results and info...and I love my Kindle and don't want to do anything to break it. Any links on how-tos would be nice as well. Thank you heartily! dzoulias |

@dzoulias: 1/ Theoretically, anything the K5 family can do has a chance to work on the PW2. Check the stickies/index/wiki. 2/ Yup. Technically fairly useless, but there's an uninstaller in the package. 3/ Not easily, but yes, cf. the rescue pack thread. 4/ Not yet, but ixtab has been working on it, and should have something ready (at least for 5.4.0) when he gets back . |

@dzoulias: see http://ixtab.tk/kindle-touch-images/PW2/README.txt for the firmware 5.4.0 partitions, and instructions. That will allow you to downgrade, but its not for the faint of heart. |
