You can prevent the other files by setting a calibre preference. In the preference, go to the "Saving books to disk" page. You probably want to uncheck the "Save covers separately" and "Save metadata in OPF file" options. I recommend keeping "Update metadata in saved copies" checked, but, ave a look at the other options to see if there is anything else you want to change.
Hi I did all you said and saved to disk
Added them to the kobo mini but they didn't seen to appear
Should I have still just added the epubs, or the whole folders that it has saved after your tips?

Copying over the .epub files should be all you needed. When you disconnected the Mini from your computer, did you get a "Processing " screen? If not, a couple of possibilities. You might want to try connecting it to your computer again and then disconnecting and see if that triggers the processing screen. Alternative is to power cycle the Mini -- hold the power slider till you get powered off, power it back on and see if it does the processing then.

David

Save to disk that saved folders though. Have I to take the epub out of each folder to add? Or add all the folders?

You can copy the folders without any problem. But, to not create the folders, use the "Save to disk in a single directory". That will put all the epubs in one folder.

Thanks again. Does it not matter either way ? Will it still show the covers?
Are they just the same if I should also use this method as a backup?
Unchecked the boxes you suggested.

As far as I know, the extra files are only used by calibre if add the epub to another calibre library. Maybe some other reader uses them. For the Kobo devices, the cover is the first page of the book. The device renders the first page and uses it.

Question

Slight hitch lol
I transfered just a few books as an experiment. And they showed up ( but all of them start on page 5 so have to scroll back , why is that? )
Also discovered save to disk had still saved mobi and azw3s as well.
Will always only want the epubs.
Had changed the settings tho as suggested. What am I missing?

This has been discussed in the last few days. See https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=199955

There are two ways to do this. The menus for the save to disk have choices for this. There should be choices "Save EPUB to disk..." as well as a "Save single format" choice. The latter will show the list of formats for the book and let you choose which one.

If you want to only ever save epubs, you can set this in the preferences. On the "Saving books to disk" page, there is a field "File formats to save". This probably has "all" in it. Change that to "epub".

Thank you will try that and get back to you regarding the link you suggested it is only the books I transferred to the mini that do that. All my books always open on the cover.
