I have tried quite a few other launchers since because like lots of folks, I don't like the bookshelves. I'm still trying other launchers out on MY Fire.
At my gadgets clinic, I removed it from 17 Fires after a problem occurred for a variety of reasons. I tell the owners that they are welcome to try it again and come back to see me. 9 have been back although 2 just had dead batteries.

Not hitting on you. I have some questions and I'd rather not be told how wrong I am for asking them.

Not a problem. If not that, is there a way to do a chat here?

I honestly have no earthly idea. However I can set that up elsewhere if it is not possible here.

On the question of running one launcher on top of another I have noticed that the kindle stock launcher
continues to run "in the background"
and its just a matter of me clicking on it
although I never switch back anymore since installing Aldiko for my Book reading.

@dacarlson Thank you for you list of other" factors"
they are some of the things I think some have not mentioned when reporting their particular problems
.
Just wild speculation here but another cause I suspect is a combo of Gowidgets that constantly try to stay connected to the web and leaving your Wifi setting to "on" at all times.

I personally rarely use My Kindle Fire for internet access at all
as I find the the browsing experience ( even with dolphin HD) is less than satisfactory.
I only switch it on whenever I pop over to my local community college to use their free public wifi to download a purchased app from amazon
also I have NO widgets on my home screen thus leave my Wifi off most of the time (99.9%).

If you are not interested in finding the cause and would rather just get rid of the **suspected** applications and move on that's fine... drop the subject.

But if you enter every Go launcher thread and announce: "back to the grey book shelves for me because Go launcher etc etc etc !!!..... "

then people are going to be curious and respond to your postings about your problems with software that they themselves are running on the same Device.
if for no other reason to try to avoid some combination of programs that might disrupt the function of their Kindle fires.
Rude is rude whether it's while bug hunting or not.

Oh, I guess I'm the "know-it-all" or do I just "like a good argument". or do I have "absolutely no idea what I'm talking about"? Thanks for escalating this to a new level of hostility which did not exist before.

This seems to happen on most message boards over time. There are some people who hang around a message board constantly and post constantly and become the "anointed" gurus of the board. One dare not contradict them without a fierce defense of their "fans" coming out to batter you down. Quite often their "fans' turn out to be themselves posting under another persona and agreeing with the original persona.

The Poll speaks for itself, doesn't it? Facts are facts....sorry.

BTW, the reason I seem to jump to the defense of GL and Rotating Wallpaper is because I introduced them on this forum after I found a posting on the Amazon Kindle Fire forums with links to both apps. Perhaps I feel a little responsible when people post that these apps have caused them problems and, also, I just naturally want to jump to the defense of an underdog in an argument????

Wow, that speculation is pretty wild. My group that had problems with alt. launchers had no widgets. I'm sure they don't even know what they are. I had no widgets when mine got bricked. Some in my clinic left their wifi on, some didn't. That really shouldn't be a problem. Mine is on all the time just like my computer's wifi is always on. Most people who have computers don't turn their connectivity on and off all the time, not since the days of dial up. I don't expect to come down in the morning and find my computer bricked because my wifi was on all night.

If you are going to the local community college just to download an app from Amazon, your use is way outside the norm and pretty much has no relationship to the average user here. You might want to think of that before you jump all over someone else.

It's hard to say because many people don't come back once I have them up and running again. I'll see if I can get some numbers on that.

This is like Facebook, say something about one person and 20 people think you are talking about them. My experience also speaks for itself, I took it off 17 Fires that weren't working. I also tested 20 just unboxed Fires with no 3rd party software. I'm not a fan of anyone here and I've been this "persona" for a long time. If it were me, I wouldn't even consider feeling guilty. Everyone made the individual choice to put it on their unit. The people at my clinic put it on and they've never heard this place. It's out there. People are going to try it.

To the OP,

I hope you won't mind if I plagiarize your comments above when they seem appropriate. They are SO right on and applicable to so many similar threads on boards like this. And the analogy is utterly hilarious!

As it happens, I contribute regularly to the reviews of the KF on the Amazon website and I promise I will remember your comments above the next time I'm tempted to tell a poster who cannot get their wifi to work that their router is made of "crappy concrete."
