calibre now adds page numbers - Page 2

The box was already marked. I even unmarked it and then marked it again and then tried, but still no page numbers. I even had both the 'send page number information when sending books' and 'use slower but more accurate page number generation' marked at one point, but still nothing so I just have the 'send page number information when sending book' marked. Not sure what the deal is. -I'm about ready to try a hard reset on my Kindle to see if that helps.

Are you sending via WhisperNet or via USB? Because it only works via USB.

Soapy, I thought I had the same problem -- until I noticed that the progress bar was only giving percentage (and not location anymore). I tapped MENU and there was the page number.

I can't find a way to default it on so we can see it without tapping MENU, but there it is anyway!

I hit the menu button but only get the location number. None of my converted books have page numbers, pdf to mobi. I transferred them both by wifi and usb and still nothing. Very strange.

I resent a mobi to my Kindle without reconverting it or anything and the pages numbers showed up, thanks!

I am interested to know how the page numbers work "under the hood". I would be willing to manually tag the pages as long as I can ensure that they are as accurate as possible.

Hello osnova, There is a thread which you may find interesting here and one of the members - goaspy -has created his own program which generates an apnx file for the page numbers, the link to his program is here. This may give you the control that you are looking for..

I suspect the answer is no, but is there any way to generate an apnx file using the current methods other than sending the file to a Kindle 3? I have a Kindle 1, but the page numbers show up on Kindle for PC, so I could still reference them.

If not, no worries. I think I want it more for "shiny thing!" value than for any particular purpose.

I really like the original % as that tells me far more than page numbers when I don't know how many page numbers in the complete book.
