Best wishes as the cleanup gets underway folks.

I hope for everyone's sake that the death toll is not as high as many are expecting.

Hey all,
Just dropping (almost typed dripping.. ) by to say that we were unflooded and, apart from dodgy coffee because the gas is out and hence our stove doesn't work, my family and I are all fine. Hubby's workplace was nastily flooded, we're not sure when he'll be able to get back to work. I'm due to start a new job on Monday, so I'm HOPING that'll be possible.
Scenes of some of the flooding have been heartbreaking, though.

True that... And don't forget the small tragedies that happen as well, that will never reach any news report. Some kid, losing its toy, or pets that get lost, or even seeing your home being destroyed by water (and I'm not talking about the house itself, but the concept of "home").

My heart goes out to all those people in the world who are chased out of their homes due to flooding (because it's not only Australia, also Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands have troubles with water)

Good to hear from you nomesque.... I could not get to work today, even though the waters have receded, the cleanup crew keeps the roads out of here closed. Hopefully tomorrow.

There are still 'only' 15 deaths... One man was found 80 km's from where he disappeared... 55 people are still missing, and they reckon some will never be found.

I think SE Queensland were well prepared for this disaster, and that's why 'only' 15 have died... It's still 15 too many, but the area we're talking about spans the whole of Europe.

Here are some interesting, interactive photos of Brisbane... They are cut in half, with the right half being before the flood, and the left half after/during the flood... You just need to drag the line in the middle the get the full picture of each...

Thanks for sharing this link. This has given me the clearest picture so far of the effect of the floods. Very scary.

Taking photos is an equally vital task to perform, someone may need one of them for visual proof - plus it helps document the whole sorry tale....

I wanted to say that I saw a TV news report yesterday which mentioned Ipswich, and thought immediately of Lene, but couldn't get to a computer to ask. But I see she's made a post in here, and seems to be fine.

Lycka till, Lene. (I know it's Swedish, but I don't know Danish!)

Edited a couple of minutes later:

Good luck to you, too, Nomesque. Didn't know you're also from Ipswich.

A sad tragedy. Glad to see most are doing ok. Hope the areas clear up soon.

Let's not forget the mudslides in Brazil also. Death toll over 400.
