Unoffcial Patches for 4.38.23171 & 4.39.22861

These patches are unofficial. The ones that apply do work. The ones that don't apply may just need a new offset. So if any of the patches you want to apply don't work, take note and post which ones so others can take a look to see if it's just needs a new offset.

I know most of the patches work for 4.38.23171.

I don't know how many work for 4.39.22861 or will work for 4.41.23145.

When I launched the script on Ubuntu, I encountered this permission problem. I tried everything but without success and I don't know where the problem comes from.

Can't you just set the permissions?

I have to confirm the issue, I am not able to understand where is the problem because the original ones (modified only with the number of the firmware) works perfectly.

The solution is that You have to set as executable the file kobopatch-linux-64bit in the "bin" directory. I settled executable all files in the bin directory but the one that is really used by You is kobopatch-linux-64bit. It works for me.

Edit: of course also the file kobopatch.sh must be executable.

I've tried this out on my Libra 2 and it doesn't work at all. Like none of the patches.

I went back to firmware .21908, and the patches do work on that version. All of them. Wonder what's the deal here...

Worked on mine with .23171. And on my Sage as well.

Tried again, it isn't working.
Not sure what's wrong, I've applied the patches for almost a decade before switching to koreader so I have practice in it, lol.
Probably because I have a revision 2 maybe? Just guessing here...

What exactly did you do? I've used the patches for 4.38.23171 no problem.

Did you look in kobopatch.yaml? That's where you decide which patches you want to use. The ZIP file for 4.38.23171 goes in src.

The patches were changed to have them put in kobopatch.yaml to make it easier to pick which patches to use. So what you may be doing is going to each yaml file in the src directory and specifying yes/no instead of the Kobopatch.yaml file.

You were right, exactly what was I doing. I really used to set there everyting because I always fine-tune the settings.

JSWolf, could you please share your nickel.yaml values from the patches called "Reduce new header/footer height" and "Custom header/footer captions"?
Based on this comment:

you have a very nice header/footer balance and the book's text still fills most of the display.

One thing though, I have Nickelclock, and the clock is fine, but if the battery is visible, the book title and page count in the footer isn't, or vice versa.

I guess you don't use Nickelclock, or you don't have that setup anymore since your comment I linked here, but I thought worth a shot if you still...
