Issues with Calbre dedrm 7.21 and newer kindle books

Does not seem to remove the drm just bought Critical Role book on amazon using dedrm and latest kfx input plugins (noticed dedrm has not been updated since last April). When i copy the book i get the kfx-zip so I am figuring it did not remove the drm. This is a bought book not library. Also all other books well older ones that I bought remove the drm fine. tried older version of calibre 4.23 and still same issue. Is there new copy protection out now? I am using windows 1.24 version of Kindle.


Any help would be great.

About 1 minute after DeDRM 7.2.1 was released, Amazon switched their KFX DRM version though that should not have affected K4PC 1.24. Check the Dealing with Kindle for PC/Mac 1.19 and KFX in calibre stickied thread for as much help/information as is permitted under MobileRead's rules.

I thought the KFX format was out for a while before the DeDrm migration to 7.2.1?

Amazon has mad the DRM for KFX to be changeable. So right after DeDRM 7.21 broke the KFX DRM, Amazon changed the DRM for KFX.

KFX breaks the will of those who do not want DRM. Amazon is a nasty evil company for ignoring those who do not want DRM on their eBooks.

Amazon aggressively protects content delivered in KFX format.

There are a dozens of KFX DRM schemes already implemented in Kindle apps and devices. Each time the current DRM in use is reverse engineered and added to the DeDRM tools Amazon immediately switches to using a different one.

An attempt was made in the latest DeDRM release to support all of the KFX DRM schemes, including those unused so far, but it was unsuccessful.
