Upgrade seems to have broken Calibre
Earlier today, I ran up Calibre for probably the first time in a few months, Not surprisingly, I was prompted to upgrade. I did so, and now something has gone seriously wrong. I'm running Linux Mint 20 64-bit. I can't start Calibre from the desktop, and if I try to run it from a terminal, there is no output, I just get the prompt back again almost instantaneously. However, if I run calibre -h then I DO get the expected help screen, and the link to the executable is there (I checked).
I emphasise that nothing else changed on this PC, the processes were sequential, run Calibre (successfully) and see the message that an upgrade was available, exit Calibre and run the upgrade, then try to run up Calibre again and it failed, as above. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to fix this, please? |

OK, it's fixed. I don't pretend to know how or why, but I uninstalled Calibre, then used kfind to check that I'd got rid of everything related to Calibre (except for the library, of course!) and then I reinstalled from scratch. And there you go, it's all working again! There were no error messages when I did that upgrade earlier today.
