Is there a way Calibre can actually show the entire title length in the database and/or when saved to another location?

Can you provide an example where it doesn't.
Within a calibre library the author and book folder names, and the format file names in the book folders are ascii-ized, sanitized (replace illegal chars), and truncated to accomodate the various Operating and File systems calibre operates under. BR |

Here's an example. Most lengthier titles get truncated. Not very nice

inside of Calibre's database you have to live with
" truncated to accomodate the various Operating and File systems calibre operates under." you get ~30 characters of file name only, not configurable. but Calibre still has the" missing" stuff, just not in the file name- its been copied into metadata fields elsewhere in the database Some transfer methods will rebuild a longer file name on the fly. I know that android calibre companion does that, maybe you can also do it with save to disc templates |

What is the context of those screenshots - file manager, spreadsheet, calibre book list ?
I'm guessing the underscore ( _ ) after the Volume number was a colon ( : ). Some OS/FS combos do not allow colons in folder and file names, others only allow Latin chars (i.e. no cyrrillic, katagana etc) - calibre caters for all the variants via normalising algorithms. As stumped has posted you will find the true values in the database which is what you should see in the book list, you can use those values in Save to Disk and Send to Device Templates. If you obtained those books directly from another calibre library then depending on your Add Books settings you may have used the ascii-ized, sanitized, latinized, truncated names that calibre wrote in the other library as the 'true' values in your library. Calibre is a LIBRARIAN.
It could deliver any book even if they were filed like Project Gutenberg does: P12345 The Metadata sent, matches the DB entry . Let The Librarian work for you and quit peeking under the skirts if you don't like the view ![]() |
