Kobo Aura & Clara HD
Your Kobo is running an updated firmware/database version. As calibre does not know about this updated firmware, database editing is disabled, to prevent corruption. You can still send books to your Kobo with calibre, but deleting books and managing collections is disabled. If you are willing to experiment and know how to reset your Kobo to Factory defaults, you can override this check by right clicking the device icon in calibre and selecting "Configure this device" and then the "Attempt to support newer firmware" option. Doing so may require you to perform a factory reset of your Kobo.
Device database version: 149. Device firmware version: (4, 13, 12638) My Kobo have NOT been Jail broken or Altered ... That's what another thread in Kobo Forums said caused this problem/s ![]() Now What? ![]() |

I don't understand. If you make the suggested calibre change there is no need to do a factory reset. The mention of a reset is just a warning that if things don't work a reset might be needed. But as I've said if there actually was a Kobo release that broke the support newer firmware option there would be major warning posts in these fora.
Please try to explain what exactly you have done |

As PeterT said, just follow the instructions and click on the check box next to Attempt to support newer firmware in the KoboTouch driver configuration. I've done this enough times and have never lost any ebooks off the ereaders after doing so. There is definitely no reason to factory reset your Kobo after getting this message. It's simply telling you the newer firmware (4.13.12638) has updated the database version and calibre has not yet been updated to officially support that version. |

The others have commented on what should be done, but, I'm curious about this. Can you point to the thread? If someone is posting information like that, then I'd like to know so it can be countered.
