Enhancement to Auto Adding
I've had Calibre set for years to "auto add" Amazon Kindle books - just had it pointed to the download folder where Kindle puts the files and Calibre would suck them in when I started it up... great.
Now that Amazon has changed, the books are put in subdirectories. I found the instructions and made the change so that Kindle uses the old format, and the files are importable, but the auto-add feature doesn't seem to know about subdirectories. I manually use the Add Books->Add from directories including subdirectories and it works great. Wondered if there is a way to have auto-add (as an option) use the same logic? Thanks, Bruce |

I'm afraid not -- there are technical reasons why auto add does not support sub-directories.

Next idea - any option to have a manual add "delete" what was just added? Auto-add seemed to delete the files after adding them, but manual doesn't. I can see this might be dangerous, so maybe a bad idea, but thought I would put it out there. Thanks! Bruce |

I have deliberately not done that because it is dangerous.

The problem you have is these eBooks in subdirectories are KFX and you can't add them to Calibre. If you are running Kindle for PC, you want to get 1.17 and install it instead of the version you have and redownload all of your eBooks.

I used "Method 2" from this thread:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=283371 Which disables KFX, but it still puts the non-KFX files in subdirectories. For now that lets me work :-) |
