Is there a way to send books to a collection?

I have resurrected my PW, and would like to send a lot of books. I am doing them by tags, first Recent fiction, then Christmas, etc. But after the first, which you can do quickly through list view, you have to go book by book. Am I doing something wrong, and is there a way (or a plug in) that sends books to particular collections? I am not talking about email; I have the kindle hooked up to my computer.

Looks like I am out of luck. I transferred 837 books to my kindle, then imported to Calibre, but it appears, if I have it right, I need another plug in, which requires jailbreaking my device, to actually get the collections on my kindle. I am going to reset the device again, and do it book by book. It is so much easier to use Calibre Companion on my fires.

I am going to try adding on consecutive days. It will be easier to add to collections manually if the ones I need to add are marked new. If anyone has any other easy ways to add a lot of books to different collections on a first gen PW, please let me know.

Jailbreaking is pretty simple, any reason you don't want to try it?

For the PW1 (do you need to update your profile?) it should be as simple as downloading a previous Amazon firmware update and downgrading (depending on your firmware version, and you may not have to even do that), and then installing the traditional jailbreak.
(Newer Kindles require a special factory firmware, which is pretty easy to install also actually.)

This is the only way whatsoever to manage collections without manually checking each and every book via the Kindle UI.
Although you can make the manual way slightly easier by copying each collection of book files as a batch and adding everything recent to the collection, that is still pretty time-consuming.

Actually, if the books were purchased from Amazon, you can add them to collections from your Manage Your Kindle page.

Thanks for the suggestions. Most of the books are not from Amazon, so the Manage Your Kindle doesn't work.

As for jailbreaking, I used to be the first person that did that, but I seem to have lost my hacking jones. I jailbroke a Samsung phone a few years ago, and when the new Google operating system came out, I couldn't download it.

I guess I got spoiled by Calibre Companion. Everything is so easy!

The easiest way I found was to add them collection by collection, and use add to collection to check off the books I had just added.

I wonder why my profile says PW2? I will have to look at that.
