Blue Borders on HDX 7" Still
Has Amazon ever changed the Blue LED's on these devices to match the 8.9inch model ?

I believe that problem has long been fixed (since early 2014), though I don't think the LED's changed in any way (they just figured out how to filter out the fringing effect). However I would avoid refurbished models. I got one last October (I think it was $50 less than new model) and it had blue fringe. I returned it for a refund.
Also, we're coming up on the 2 year anniversary of its launch. I have to think there will be a new HDX7 this fall, and it will surely have a rear facing camera (useful for capturing print documents if nothing else) and probably better specs overall. |

Amazon always claimed that the blue "fringe" was perfectly normal and that there was nothing wrong with the tablet screen. I had two of them, purchased about 8 months apart from one another and they both had the blue edge.
But, since it was normal and my eyes adjusted to it after like 10 seconds, I stopped thinking about it and don't look for it any more. You could go to Best Buy and look at the floor model. I think they still sell the aging HDX 7. |

I bought one this year (I'm using it to write this post) and it has the blue edge but it's hardly noticeable. I love my HDX

Just to add to my previous post I bought my HDX 7 when it was heavily discounted, I got the 64GB. I realised a new one is probably on the cards this year but a full price one is out of my price league. The blue border barely exists and only on white pages. I really don't consider it an issue at all.

I'm using an app called bluelight eyecare. It puts a layer on the screen to help with eyestrain. You can choose the tint on the filter. I chose the dark gray which eliminates the blue edge and makes the reading experience on tablets better for me.
But...even without the filter, it's really not that big of a deal. I like the filter because I don't like a bright white background when I read. |
